    Hey There

Ok, I’m still so in love with that turtle lol. This is a little card I made for the Some Odd Girl catalog using the turtle from the Hey Kaylee 4×6 Clear Stamp Set. Its just a fun and simple shaped card I made using papers from AC, SC, & EP. Then Mr Turtle was stamped with Memento’s Espresso Truffle and colored with Copics. I like that color of stamp ink, its not a harsh black but its darker than a normal brown. Its becoming my go to ink pad.ย  3 more days and I’ll be leaving! Today I’m working on those coloring sheets, getting some special booth things colored…

    Blue Bird

click pics to see in gigantoid size Every had a craving so strong you just couldn’t resist? Yeah. I wanted to draw a bird on Monday lol. Weird, I know. So over about 2 hours while watching Hell’s Kitchen and Master Chef. I sketched and colored the bird above. I updated pics via Instagram hence I got the progression above. Not the greatest pics ever but considering they were by lamp light on my phone I really can’t complain. ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Here is a nice scan of the final piece. Sketched with Grey Multipliner and colored with Copics If you look at the huge size of this image you can see…

We have 4 new images that we are highlighting each day this week on the Some Odd Girl Blog. Today we have Gardening Mae. This one might be my favorite of the release. I can’t put my finger on quite why but Mae looks really content as she waters the fruits of her labor.ย  I had some fun coloring this one and there was a TON of…

    Make a Wish

Look at me! I got cards made!ย  rckhnds I needed some specific cards, specific as to the stamps, for the catalog so I ended up making them up myself. It gave me the perfect excuse to get crafty and I really had fun playing with patterns and colors on this one! I did a whole TON of cutting with my nesties to get the layers in the middle and I just really like how the whole came out. I used Birthday Mae, Memento stamp inks, Jillibean Soup label sticker and papers from AC, Sassafras, Echo Park and a couple from my stash that I have no idea where they’re from.…

    Shading Yellow: a Copic Tutorial

I’ve seen this question come up A LOT lately! Maybe its from the warmer, sunnier weather ๐Ÿ™‚ This little bit is something I learned when I used to do a lot more painting but the idea totally applies to copics too. If you try to shade yellow with a grey/black it usually turns out green and just kind of icky. I always encourage you to experiment and find your own likes but Y26 and Y28 are my go tos for shading yellow. ย I hope you enjoyed the tut and I hope it was helpful!

    Speed Coloring – Windy Day

This is a piece that sort of took on a life of its own. I drew this while watching Game of Thrones (I don’t watch much tv but that’s not to miss as I heart the books!). I was afraid the inked product wouldn’t match to the pencil but I really like how it turned out. I inked her with black copic Multiliner and the grass and clouds with grey. I really like the contrast just in the line work that way. Because of that I colored right on the original. I usually scan and print it just in case of a mess up (and they usually end up as…

    gift box tutorial: part 1

Today I have a tutorial up on the Copic Marker Blogย and their theme for May is Weddings. I was asked “to do something paper crafty that goes along with it.” Let’s just say I had a lot of wiggle room XD ย So the pic above it the finished project of the tutorial. I am starting out the tutorial here bc frankly I did SO many things with it that it all couldn’t fit there, I already had to get uber creative with my photos (I took a ton) lol. So part one of my Custom Wedding Gift Box is how to make the box then on Copic’s blog is how…

    Mushroom Fairy

Today’s fairy is Mushroom Fairy. Sketching one night I came up with her and its what set off the whole Fairy release this month as she needed to be in the store ๐Ÿ™‚ I love the idea that, if you’ve ever seen the Tinker Bell movies, that the fairies have to make their clothes and stuff from what they find around so when I draw them I try and do that. They just seem a bit more “real” that way ๐Ÿ™‚ย  Mushroom Fairy is a little different today as I colored her with a base of copics then added texture, shading and highlights with Prismacolor Pencils. With the copics I…

    Dandelion Fairy

Today’s fairy is wee Dandelion Fairy ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m kind of in lve with her though I’m not exactly sure of the reason overall lol. Maybe I just wish I had a petal dress? That could be :3 But either way I hd a ton of fun coloring her! I played her some more with the V20, V22, V25 to shade my skin combo of E00, E02, E11 and I’m still really happy with it. You can get a nice graduation of color in the shadows with those too.ย  The papers for this card are special bc I got them from a lovely lady namedย Annette! She sent me a package of…
