    March Sketch Challenge

Its March Challenge time at the Some Odd Girl blog! We’ve got a simple sketch that you can have a lot of fun playing with. I decided to do a simple small sized card, its 3.25″ x 3.5″, and used the Mushrooms and sentiment from the Hey Kaylee Clear Stamp set and cut out the mushes with the coordinating cut file.    I got to use something I got for christmas from my hubs on this card too. Target had a pair of scissor that they called the original paper shredder/confetti maker which is a lot like those Martha Stewart multi blade fringe scissors, less than half the price though!…

    Hey There

Ok, I’m still so in love with that turtle lol. This is a little card I made for the Some Odd Girl catalog using the turtle from the Hey Kaylee 4×6 Clear Stamp Set. Its just a fun and simple shaped card I made using papers from AC, SC, & EP. Then Mr Turtle was stamped with Memento’s Espresso Truffle and colored with Copics. I like that color of stamp ink, its not a harsh black but its darker than a normal brown. Its becoming my go to ink pad.  3 more days and I’ll be leaving! Today I’m working on those coloring sheets, getting some special booth things colored…

    Wood you be mine?

This is a little card I did using the Nutsy Kaylee stamp set but with no image. Are you surprised? XD Its a really simple shadped card but I think its cute. The heart was stamped with Lady Bug Red Memento then colored over with YR04 to make it match the red-orange in the paper a bit more. Its also been popped up off the card with foam dots for added dimension. The papers are Studio Calico and Crate Paper. I thought the lil wood scallops in the pink paper really tied all the wood elements together too.  Short post for today! 🙂 I am on my second day off…

    Under the Sea Mae

Its release day! :DD There’s been a lot of requests for some Mermaid stamps and I had SUCH a hard time staying mum as I’ve been sitting on these and couldn’t spill! :3 I was fit to burst yo! The Odd Girls have a lot of inspiration on the Some Odd Girl blog today so make sure to check it out!  I had a lot of fun coloring her but it took me a couple tries to figure out how I wanted to do her scales and tail and then it took alot of layering. I used the colors G000, G00, YG01, YG03, YG11, BG32, BG34, BG72, BG75 for the…

    Thank You For…

Someone may have to take this paper pad away from me! I’m in love with it! I reach for it over and over again  My second Thankful project for the week is another Thank You card. I needed a few more of these so I kind of went to town with a few lol.  I went really CAS and let the paper shine (LOVE the flower print here!) I have no idea where this design idea came from but its different with cutting the image off and I like it! I can see some variations of this you could make that I might have to explore. 🙂  Sweet Thinkin…

    Believe…

Today I have a little card using Nouveau Girl Believe. When I was putting the bling on it I really thought Believe really looks like a fancy bride  all dressed in her white with the flowers in her hair 🙂  The papers for this card are MME and Believe is stamped with Memento on XPress It and colored with Copics. Here dress is colored with only 2 colors of Copics (BG70, BG93). I used and layered BG70 on for subtle shadows then used some pallet blending to add in the BG93 so it would stay really subtle. I think the only spots I actually used BG93 on her dress direct…

    Nouveau Inspired Challenge

The challenge this time around at Some Odd Girl goes right along with our new release asking you to take inspiration from the artist who inspired the Art Nouveau movement, my fav of all time artist, Alphonse Mucha! Specifically his piece, Thistle in the Sands. I find his line work, flow and feel just amazing while having a graphic quality that appeals to me 🙂 ANYWAYS lol. You might be inspired by the colors or some of the elements or anything else but be inspired and create! That’s what I did and here’s what I came up with… I was inspired by the colors and the circular motif which I…

    A stitch in time…

This week’s challenge at Some Odd Girl is all about the stitching! You know how a stitch in time saves 9? Well mine saves butterflies from fluttering off of my card 🙂 The challenge is to make a project with alot of stitching! Make it a focal point! I went with a CAS design to highlight the stitching. An odd angle to shoot from but I like how it shows the stitching and the 3D effect of the butterflies 🙂 This is a tall skinny card, 6″ x 3.5″. I colored pinwheel panda with copics, stamped with Memento. The sentiment is from the Photo Kaylee set, I wanted to keep…
