Happy Monday!

Today is a new release day at Some Odd Girl! I’m trying to force Spring again with a Spring themed release. Spring Showers, clouds, sun rays and cute critters are all apart of this release.

I had started on videos to go along with each of the releases this week but it was on my schedule to finish them last week when my sick went down. *fail* I do have one for Wednesday’s Clever Kitty’s ready, we’ll see about finishing up the other 2.

This card has papers from Crate and Studio Calico and an Amy Tan scrap for the sentiment which is stamped with Danube Blue. The tag is a plain ol manilla shipping tag from Office Max that I stamped the clouds from Umbrella Gwen with Grey Flannel Memento and colored with Copics (B39, B69, B66, B63, B60, Y000, Y02, Y17, YR14) then the stars are from Freckled Fawn.

I’ll see you tomorrow!

Boys Best Friend Tobie

Tobie

Look! I made 2 cards this week lol. I have one more for Friday :)

Today the feature is the digital stamp Boy’s Best Friend Tobie. I drew this on the airplane back from CHA Winter last year (believe it or not) and I lost it in a sketch book for a long time. Probably bc of all the dramamine for motion sickness I had taken. I’m not a great rider of any transportation.

This card came together super fast, which was weird. Everything, except the washi tape, came out of my scrap box. I need a bunch more of that yellow people paper *sigh* I think that’s the last of it too.

Hop over to the blog to see Rachel’s card for today too. Its SUPER CUTE!

Its a new digital release day at Some Odd Girl! On the Some Odd Girl blog we are featuring the new Happy Gwen digital stamp today and I’m geeked I finally got some crafty time (and a smidge of mojo) and got a card made :DD

its a winter miracle!

This card as a decidedly shabby chic look too it to me and I don’t know how that happened, that’s not my usual style, but there it is. I kept things more light and texturey than bold colors which is my more normal go to. It has October Afternoon Paper, BG flowers and I stamped the sentiment with Memento. Gwen herself was colored with copics.

I hope you’ll stop by the blog and leave a comment to win this sweet girl and see the other creations today.

March Sketch Challenge

mushroom card by Kristy Dalman

Its March Challenge time at the Some Odd Girl blog! We’ve got a simple sketch that you can have a lot of fun playing with. I decided to do a simple small sized card, its 3.25″ x 3.5″, and used the Mushrooms and sentiment from the Hey Kaylee Clear Stamp set and cut out the mushes with the coordinating cut file.

I got to use something I got for christmas from my hubs on this card too. Target had a pair of scissor that they called the original paper shredder/confetti maker which is a lot like those Martha Stewart multi blade fringe scissors, less than half the price though! I like that it did that awesome twist to the paper when I cut it :)  My hubs knows me so well!

I hope you’ll come check out the sketch and link up this month! We’d love to see you there!

Today I’m Guesting over at the Oozak Challenge Blog with the Anything Goes using your Favorite Colors Challenge. I tried my hand at the soft coloring that is so gorg when Anna Sigga does it, and it might have been my best attempt at it though it was SO HARD to not go further with it. Hop over to see the whole project and leave me some love :) It was a treat to get to guest.

I used the Clear Stamp Romantic Gwen from Some Odd Girl for my guest card and used Copics: BG23, BG34, BG57, W0, W1, W3, E40, E42, E43, E44, YR31, EOOO, E21, E11, R00, R43, BV20, RV93, RV95, YR30, R20, Y000, Y00 for her and the background.

There’s a great prize pack up for grabs from Mr Oozak and with this challenge you can easily get in on it! I’m going to put out the call bc I want to see a whole ton of Odd creations linked up! If you linked up to our February Sketch Challenge and used your favorite colors go link up at Oozak too!

Do it!  :DD

I hope you have a great weekend and I’ll see you on Monday!

Tobie steals my heart!

December 11th, 2012 by Kristy

Originally the characters Tia and Tobie were inspired by my kids but after I got this Tobie all colored up and gave in to the urge to put some specks on him, I dare say this Tobie reminds me of my hubs when he was lil. Funny thing is, he totally agrees.

AWWWWWWW!  :DD

I foiled the heart… but its not smooth as I didn’t have the right adhesive for that big of an area *sigh* it still looks good but my nit pickiness is showing thru. The papers from this are Crate and Echo Park with Tobie Loves being colored with Copics and the sentiment is a sneak peek from one of next week’s Clear Stamp releases. It was too perfect not to use :)

Tomorrow I have another sneak peek of next week’s release for the Wednesday LIVE Color Along on Ustream, Love Me Not Mae! I’m *in* love with her and I think you will be too! I hope to see you there! I’ll have all the info right here tomorrow at 9am and the coloring starts at 1pm EST. I have a new webcam that I hope is a step up from my outdated model I’ve been using. We shall see!

Big Squeezey Hugs!

December 10th, 2012 by Kristy

I know we’re just a couple of weeks before chrimbo AND that’s mostly what’s on everyone’s minds *but* I dare say that the lovey images released today at Some Odd Girl still fit the season as we all celebrate our loved ones

I know not everyone is a hugger either but *I AM*! Nothing makes me feel better than a big squeezy hug. My kids are the victims… er… happy recipients of alot of my affections, poor hubs too. That’s one of the reasons I love this image, I hope when my kids grow up they’ll still be as huggy then as they are now. And that we still do family hugs… love family hugs!

The card has papers from Hambly, Basic Grey and Cosmo Cricket with stamp ink from Memento and Squeezy Hugs was colored with Copic Markers. Make sure to check out all the images from the release for some more sweetness :)

SWOON! New Sentiment sets from Some Odd Girl!

November 26th, 2012 by Kristy

Boy howdy, today’s new release at Some Odd Girl is kinda a scary one since it veers from what the basis of Some Odd Girl is… but you know what? Scary is also exciting and I’m excited to see the reaction to these new sentiment sets. Don’t be shy! Let me know what you think of them!

I’m looking forward to getting some pics back now that PostalPix has an Android App and take these sets SMASHing! I like SMASHing but to tell the truth I find it insanely intimidating bc the page is permanently in the book! It makes me hesitant to stick anything down… that and my books will end up being uncloseable. I’m a bulky scrapper and I doubt that will change when I SMASH more. I did get a SN@P book that I’m making a plan for, I might like that option a bit more.

This card though was made with the new Take a Moment sentiment set from Some Odd Girl and papers from Studio Calico, and October Afternoon with Sass Flower and brad then Washi tape I got from Paper Issues (Freckled Fawn maybe?). The stamp ink is both Memento Dew Drops.

BTW, I got the Hero Arts Neon inks, and with the Memento I never have any staining of my stamps but that Neon ink is like grape juice on a white shirt! Anyone have any suggestions? I tried the Hero Arts Stamp Cleaner and it didn’t help. The stain doesn’t hurt the stamps at all but call me picky, I like them clean.

Now that I’ve gabbed your ear off hop over and check out the rest of the teams goodies!

Hey There

July 11th, 2012 by Kristy

Ok, I’m still so in love with that turtle lol.

This is a little card I made for the Some Odd Girl catalog using the turtle from the Hey Kaylee 4×6 Clear Stamp Set. Its just a fun and simple shaped card I made using papers from AC, SC, & EP. Then Mr Turtle was stamped with Memento’s Espresso Truffle and colored with Copics. I like that color of stamp ink, its not a harsh black but its darker than a normal brown. Its becoming my go to ink pad.

3 more days and I’ll be leaving! Today I’m working on those coloring sheets, getting some special booth things colored and hopefully not scaring the neighbors with my squeels when the catalogs arrive. Wish me luck on that lol

Boy’s Best Friend

July 2nd, 2012 by Kristy

Happy Monday! I hope you had a fabby weekend! The holiday is coming and I hope all you US peeps stay safe! It would be pretty hard to craft with missing digits eh?

I have a nice little card to share with you using a poor neglected stamp, Tobie and his Puppy. We girls like to make girly things and be girly (some more than others) but you gotta flex the dude muscles and go outside the box! I used papers from Echo Park’s This & That, memento stamp inks and Copics for coloring. I made him a couple weeks ago when I was making things for the catalog so you’ll have to forgive my not writing down my colors used.

Yup, I’m naughty  :||

Speaking of coloring! Today the Copic Class I do with Melissa is opening up registration for our next Basic Class that is starting August 6. Over the next few weeks we’ll also have some interviews with previous students and you’ll be able to see first hand their before and afters! We’ve been SO proud of leaps and bounds our students have made that we just can’t help sharing! And we’re thrilled they’ve agreed :) So if you are interested, or you just want to see the tuts Mel and put out, hop over to Created from Color and check us out!
