    Nerd Bird

Some Odd Girl has some new digi stamp Owls in our shop and this one, Nerd Bird, looks more and more like Kip from Napoleon Dynamite to me the more I look at him… you can’t unsee that comparison.  Because its true. Ha. While Nerd Bird is not officially associated with his doppelganger cousin Kip, he is available (and way fun to color!) at Some Odd Girl. I’ll be sharing my other card, with Tired Owl, another day. He and I need some caffeine first.  Have a great week!   Copics: W0, W1, W2, W3, W4, W7E40, E41, E42, E44BG70, BG90BG11, BG23, BG57YG00, YG01, Y13, Y15, Y19

    New Digi Stamp, Pearl Mermaid

YAY! Today is new Digi Stamp Release Day at Some Odd Girl and here is my card for the occasion, with Pearl Mermaid. I spent a LOT of time coloring her up for the website so when I went to make the card to go with it none of the patterned paper I had seemed to “work”. I ended up deciding to go very CAS and let that coloring work stand mostly alone. The patterned paper I did end up using, along with the sequins, goes with how I colored her scales and pearl she’s holding. Simple yet effective I think. My card might be CAS but you NEED to…

    Leaf Magic, new digi stamp

This week at Some Odd Girl is new digi week! I have a new girl, Leaf Magic, to add to our collection of digi stamp Fairies. She seems like the super girl of fairy land with that up, up, and away pose I think.  I was REALLY unsure about the layout of this card, as I mentioned in our Facebook Community, and still am going back and forth. I think its a “like” not a “love” with this one but I’m finding it interesting to look at design wise. Weird how that happens sometimes.   I also added week 3’s batch of retirees to our Retirement Sale, a lot of…

    Critters Challenge in our Community

Challenges are BACK at Some Odd Girl and for the next 2 weeks we are rockin the Critters section of the shop! I created this lil shaker card… pocket card?… with a ton of vellum, a bit of sequins and one cute fishy, the digi stamp Goldie. I’m still working on the loooong process of getting 500+ digis moved over (mostly bc all the pics need to be redone) and got this girl colored up and thought it the perfect match to try a shaker card using my new Photo Fuse. I was going to do the regular window for the shaker but decided to try this method and viola!…

    Meet Meadow Tia

Hey cardmaking homies, today we have a new Digi Stamp at Some Odd Girl, Meadow Tia! Yesterday was my son’s 8th birthday (I feel OLD) and that was my normal crafty day but woke up this morning and busted this card out! You peeps who can make a card in under a hour get big props from me! I already had Tia colored and just had to do the background but dang, I felt pretty sloooooow, it took me closer to a hour and a half. I used papers from Crate Paper’s Journey 6×6, enamel dots from Studio Calico and sentiment stamped with Memento Espresso Truffle from the Cookies n…

    50s Mae Inspiration

Last week on the Some Odd Girl blog I had the fun of bringing you a little inspiration to your Thursday. I couldn’t just share my 50s Mae Digi Stamp card there and not here too! I gave it a few days to breathe and viola! You can read a bit more on my thought process on the Inspiration post but I really like the jaunty angle of this card. Sammi said on Instagram that the stripy paper looks like the lighting on her and her dress. She’s super smart! I was just liking the way it looked 🙂 I hope you enjoy the rest of your week! I’ll be back…

Trick or Treat with the Odd Girls!

Welcome to my, and the last, stop on our 2nd Annual Trick or Treat with the Odd Girls Blog Hop! You should have arrived from Nicole’s blog, if not, hop over to the Some Odd Girl blog and start at the beginning. We have plenty of Tricks AND Treats so commenting on every stop is essential!   For my hop creation I used the digi stamp Witchy Mae along with the sentiment from the clear stamp Flutter by Fairy. Different for me is I printed her on a piece of Strathamore Grey Tone Sketch Paper then used colored pencils, white, light grey, medium grey and black, to color her. I wanted…

Hey There Hula Girl Mae! ARC Crafts fun

howdy howdy or should I say Aloha! Today I have a card for you teaming up the new digi stamp Hula Girl Mae from Some Odd Girl with some yummy ARC Crafts wood paper. This card is actually pretty simple. I used my shredding scissors hubs got me from Target for christmas 2 years ago (theres a Martha Stewart version too) and used it on 1.5″ strips of wood veneer paper then layered it on my card to look like a hula skirt or tiki roof, easy and tons of texture. You wouldn’t think that ACTUAL wood veneer paper would cut so dang well with scissors or in your Silhouette…
