    Veil | Speed Painting

Howdy! I told you I’d be back this week with another video from my personal art channel on the youtubes. I’m also endeavoring to up the golly gee whiz attitude this week vs the droll nap that was a week ago. Bringing back the pep! Now, this video is my speed painting, in Manga Studio, of the past patreon exclusive line art, Veil. Now I know most people who read my blog, unless those might be crickets I hear, do their painting and coloring with more traditional methods… markers, watercolor (jealous, they hate me!), pencils, etc… so before you go BOO and not watch the video which is only 10…

    Doll | Speed Painting

Last week was a semi-fail for having a video up to share, some quick changes around here derped my carefully laid plans. Today though I have one of my favorite pieces lately to share with you. It was a part of my patreon offerings for last month but it also ended up being one of my favs to color, check out Doll.     Is it just me or can dolls be super creepy?   I was going for creepy with her blank stare and pose but, and maybe its just me again, I think she had some of that but also looks weirdly serene… like a statue that evokes…

    New Avatars!

In my last post I told you about the new avatars I was working on, well the first of them are up in the shop! So far its only the blonde Gwen, with its 4 choices of eye color, but I’ll be adding the brunette, black and red hair colors in the shop over the week. It takes longer than I thought with adding the options to the listings.     This is my first foray into offering something like this but not the last. It’ll take a lil bit to get all the options of Mae and Kaylee in as well, especially now I know how long this one took,…

    Up Do | Speed Painting

Last week I shared the Speed Drawing video of this line art, Up Do. Today I have the Speed Painting video to share with you today. It took quite a while to paint so I hope you enjoy it…     I colored her in Manga Studio 5 with an interesting light source that I had fun playing with, low to her right, like the sun coming up as she’s getting ready for her day. I wanted her to have plenty of contrast in that lighting but for it to still look soft. To try for the look I wanted I tried painting in a different way.   In Manga Studio, vs…

    Up Do | Colored

Last week I shared the Speed Art video of the drawing and inking of Up Do, an image from my August Patreon goodies. Today I have a little pic of the finished coloring! I do have the speed coloring video I’ll be uploading and sharing soon, its not ready yet. This coloring took me, literally, all day on Monday so you can imagine how much video there is to put together.         You can check out the entire piece in my Society6 shop if you want to before the Speed Coloring vid is up. I’m really happy with this one so I’d love it if you would!…

    Patreon Preview: Mermaid

I’ve been working on a new piece for June’s Patreon. I have a lil preview for you below, but I’ve had a request, a very hopeful one I might add, for a mermaid and I had done some sketching previously but couldn’t come up with anything that inspired me to keep going.    But I finally did…     This is still in the sketch phase, the pics here, but the official inking of it is complete with a few changes… a girl has to keep a few secrets.   You’ll have to excuse the strangeness of the pics, they are literally photos of the screen, nice quality I’m sure.…

    May 2016 Patreon

May’s patreon goodies were sent out to my patrons today. Computer problems made my late, I’m sad to say, but either way I hope they enjoy this month’s exclusive line art and desktop background.     I am pretty dang horrible at naming images as I’m sure you already know if you’ve read any of the names from past months, ha.   For May, patrons received the line art of Up & Float and a bonus sketch art of the painting from the May Desktop background. I seriously didn’t even think of a lame name for her, it never crossed my mind. Le sigh.   <Insert Name Here> on the…

    Nature Digital Art Inking video

Howdy there! I have a digital art process video to share with you guys today, it is a portion of the digital inking of one of March’s Patreon exclusive line arts, Nature.    Its a speed drawing (inking?) video the compresses a couple hours worth of inking down into a more easily digested video. Check it out…     I used an app called AZ Screen Recorder to capture this from my tablet, I’m really surprised it worked as well as it did. The app *said* it could and I don’t know about you, but I don’t believe it until I see it.    Besides this video I also recorded…

    Raise, new art print

Woohoo! First official full week of my new blog schedule, if you missed it last week, Monday’s are Art days. I wanted to share a bit more with you about my latest art print, Raise. Its my third print since starting this part of my art journey. I really feel like there’s been a learning curve with picking up new techniques and coming to grips with the differences between traditional mediums that were my go to’s and this. Besides the fact that I can not, as of yet, go color in bed while watching tv, that is a goal for the future. In the first piece, Wind, it was mostly,…

    Stars Speed Painting Process Video

I realized while working on my 2 latest art prints that digital painting has come a crazy long way since I made my last big piece in 2003. Photoshop 5.5 was the program I worked with (not CS5 like now lol that’s like 10 versions ago) then and techniques have really evolved. Consequently I am relearning as I go and really don’t know if my way is the best way (is it ever? ha) to do it but even if its not I am really enjoying it! I super love my markers but this is giving me a whole new avenue to play with color that isn’t as easy in…
