Back from “vacation”
Vacation is in air quotes because I didn’t really take a vacation, my hubs was off of work all last week which meant we tried to knock out any large projects that had been looming. Of course they all took longer than expected lol. But one project we did get done was rearranging my office/studio! I needed a larger table to pack orders and things but without a major shift had no room for it. Its done now! Mostly at least as I still have some things to sort down further π Want to see piccys? There’s alot lol. Here we go! First the Before…
And now the After…
And the office side of the space…
The tool basket and monitor can easily go to the floor if I need more space but the table is 4′ x 4′ so should be plenty big without doing it π The shelving for all my crafty stuff is the Rubbermaid Closet System.
The best thing is its all adjustable shelving so I can tweak and play everytime the whim takes me! I opted for alot of shelves with 4 basket drawers. These drawers have my rub ons, 12 x 12 sticker sheets and sketch books then my camera stuff in the bottom.
This drawer has all my Thickers and label stickers
And this one has all the embellishments that couldn’t hang like chipboard, flowers and journaling spots
Everything that could hang is up on my pegboard
Then all my buttons and brads and such are in the magnetic tins below the pegboard
On the shelves next to that are my inks, paints and scraps sorted into a hanging file box, then my ribbons and dymo, next a basket of spooled ribbon and card bases. My cuttle bug, embossing folders and dies are in easy reach though I need to find something to put the Nesties in.
I also made a home for my sewing machine in the shelves so it can stay set up for easy use π
Across the top is all photoboxes with packing supplies, finished cards, printed pics and extra sewing things. All my paper is stored in cubes under the table top. First has my newest papers and cutters then my cardstock below.
This one has all my patterned paper. I’m going to sort those out into single colors in the Cropper Hopper Paper holders and expand it into the ones below, hence the mostly empty bottom cube. I did a little decorating with our stamps. It will keep growing as our line does, like a visual reminder.
Over on the office side, I decorated with embroidery hoops
Our school cubby unit I bought from the antique fair holds all our stock of stamps, my wee bundles (they’ll be moving to the shelves soon), wrap and mini albums.
Even my Momiji dolls found a new home on the window sill.
I totally recommend the Rubbermaid! The site has one of those handy online designers that you can play with to get an idea of what you’d like. It will even print out a parts list to recreate it.Β Thanks for taking a look at my space! I love how it turned out! Even though it was a big 2 day project. I can use a real vacation now lol though I am happy to be getting back to a regular schedule this week. It was all wonky last week with DH home all day too, I already miss him though. π Has anyone else done any re-organizing? I’d love to see links!

Bit late to the party, I’ve been away for 2 months and am slowly catching up on my blog reading! (I am trying to read all the way back! XD)
LOVE LOVE LOVE the new space!! Jealous of all your supplies but I’d be so overwhelmed with so much choice!! Hope you are still loving the space!! So many great ideas for one day when I get to have a craft space that isn’t the dining table in the living room!

lucky you to have such a great (and organized) space. i love the 4×4 table. i have a large drafting table in my space. okay, so i had to know exactly how big it was so i got up and measured it. it’s 5 x about 31/2. because it’s a drafting table i can adjust it from sitting to standing height and it also tilts.
i love how you organized all your Thickers and other stickers. your peg board has inspired me to keep all my product in their original wrappers and hang them up on my peg board. thanks for the extra little “push” i needed to finish up all the organizing. i love your space!
Rachel Arcishewsky
I don’t know what is more beautiful, your studio space or your website! Your work is so great! I love love love your header! π Quick Question: in one of the pictures you show a metal rack holding some paint tubes. What kind of rack is that? I need one! π
Kristy
Thanks Rachel! :DD The paint holder is from Cropper Hopper. Here’s an example of it http://www.artistsupplysource.com/product.php?productid=50308
I purchased mine at Hobby Lobby but I know Michaels also has it and you can find it other places online π

Enjoy your new crafting room! π

Your finished project is just fabulous!! My hubby finally but my two new “huge” shelves up for me in my craft room (my daughters room first, now my craft room). You have given me lots of ideas, appreciate that gf, so now I have to get into the room, hard to do as everything is such a mess, and get busy!!!!!!! Yikes. Hubby home from school this week so I have to light a fire under him to help move heavy things as my back is not good. Sigh………But can not wait to invite my gf’s over to play in the eventual “NEW CRAFT ROOM”. Yeah!!!! Thanks for posting all those pictures. If u have any other ideas for us please post them asap. ekc
Crystal
Wow! I’m jealous. I’m still trying to figuire out what to do with all my stuff!

Kristy,
I am trying to organize my small extra bedroom into a craft room. I love how you have worked so hard on yours. i especially loved the Rubbermaid system you used and also the table in the middle!!! I did have that idea but I am in need some help with the plans or dementions to make it. Is there any way you can help with that. I would be so grateful. thx so much ! Kel
Kristy
I’m happy to give you some help Kelly! Ask away!
I used the Design tool on RubberMaid’s website (http://www.rubbermaid.com/pages/closet-designer.aspx) to work mine out before buying a thing! It even has a printable parts list when your done and has all the features (drawers shelves bins etc) that you can virtually play with. Definitely give that a looksy before committing to buying anything. I’d also really think about how you like to work and what might work best for you. I *needed* the big desk for order packing, having it for crafting is awesome but ultimately a side benefit π I wish I had an area to keep things like my cuttlebug and dies set up but totally out of room lol.

OMGGGG I sooooo want a room like this also =O it’s amazing!!
Love that you also like Momiji dolls! I got a few myself =)

Hi Kristy, I love your craft room revamp, it looks amazing. Since I am reading this post 1 year after originally posting it I just wondered whether now that you have “lived” with it, whether there was anything you changed that wasn’t working. I would be really interested to see a post about any changes you made, difficulties you encountered using the space and any other tips or tricks you have discovered along the way. Thanks again. π
Kristy
That’s a great idea Tash! Thanks! π Giving it a tidy will be step one fo sho lol!

I too just found your room while searching for craft inspiration on Pinterest. I just love anything like this. It gets me all excited and I want to start making something, just anything! lol. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Fabulous space and ideas. It’s always great to get a peek into other people’s craftroom to see how they store their stuff. Don’t have my own space (yet) but it’s a good thing to see what options there are out there so that I know what I want if and when I create my own space. Of course living on an island (Crete/Greece) can be quite a drawback when it comes to buying heavy stuff.
Graciela/Cielo
wow! you have a wonderful place! you are really lucky! i wish you a happy new year for Norway π
Thanks for sharing
Kristy
Thanks tons for stopping by! I hope you have a wonderful New Year too!
Sandra L.
I’ve stop by your blog often and love it. But for some reason never looked at the images of your studio/office. Love the new version.
I was wondering where you purchased those magnetic items below the peg board. I have the ones from Ikea with the screw lids but the ones that look like bowls are adorable and would be so handy for things you “grab” often.
Kristy
Thanks for stopping by Sandra! Those lil bowls were a Target $1 spot buy. I wish I would have grabbed a few more as they are super handy!

Kristy
Thanks so much for replying so quickly.
They are just perfect especially for our studio’s. We don’t have a Target anywhere close to where I live, so I don’t get there often. It seems to be the rule of life, find a good thing but don’t grab extra’s. I’ve done it a few times, found something but wasn’t sure how it work, then go back to the store and they don’t carry it any longer. I’ll have to keep my eye out if to see if there is something similar out there.
Have a great week.
