let’s have a crafting a{flair}!

Valentine's Day Layout by Kristy Dalman

Today is a new theme over at Paper Issues, let’s have a crafting a{flair}, sponsored by PI girls Martha with her shop Panda Eight Designs. She has some gorgeous flair!

The theme title was perfect for the layout I wanted to do, about valentine’s day with my kids and hubs this year. We decided to have breakfast for dinner, a treat around here, and I made heart shaped pancakes. The kiddos thought it was so super cool! I loved that they appreciated the effort. DH made a homemade pancake batter with cinnamon and vanilla that was just too yummy

I just got Paper Issues box (#cassiemail!) in and was so totally inspired! I used some new and some old(er) stuff.

new… Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm papers

old(er)… Crate Paper On Trend stickers

new… Crate Paper Maggie Holmes papers

old… AC flair

You get the idea :) I even used a Some Odd Girl sentiment on the page with the Neon blue Hero Arts ink… I’ve had it but hadn’t used it as I thought it would be darker. I was pleasantly surprised on the color! You’ll be seeing that alot now.

Hop over and link up! And if you go to the PI Shop for some goodies use my DT member code of ODDGIRL for 20% off your order. She’s got a ton of new stuff in that you’ll want too.

I SMASHed!

January 22nd, 2013 by Kristy

or snapped? This wasn’t out of a SMASH book but done in a SN@P album but same concept for me. I usually am very intimidated by this kind of scrapping but this came together really quickly! The pics are all off my Instagram and printed via Kanvass. LOVE the size and the white border, need the border personally.

A quick aside on Kanvass. My first order came in very dark and yellow and I email them and very quickly  (I emailed on New Years Eve) got a response and a new batch was sent out, great customer service! (Thanks Sean!)

page1cu

All the papers, minus the SN@P page, came from my scraps and are AC and Sass; Washi is KI Memories, OA, and Freckled Fawn; AC Thickers and journal spot; OA sprinklers.

That’s my first time using the OA Sprinklers and I’m super in love! I got a few from Paper Issues and I’ve only really tried the yellow but OMG I heart it! Its more like paint in that you don’t see thru it like normal mist and I love that! Need more colors! (what have you started Cassie Box?!)

Tried anything new this year yet?

My Chicka at 7 years old, a scrapbook LO

November 30th, 2012 by Kristy

By now she’s actually closer to 8 than 7 (oh my flippin what? Did I just say that?!) but for some reason for me after she convinced me to cut her hair and she went into the second grade, after an admittedly rough start, she’s started to really blossom. She’s always had personality, she’s always had a way about her that she knew what she wanted but this year she seems to be starting the confidence to go along with the attitude. I don’t know if the hair cut triggered it or it was just that much more apparent but my little girl is growing up!

Now mind you that she’s since lost one of her front teeth with the other one headed out soon and its making her look more kid less grown up lately but that hasn’t stopped her from using that cuteness to her advantage lol.

This Layout is the one that got me back into love with scrapbooking. Her pics made it a must scrap! I got to use a lot of scraps and pieces of Sass I’ve been hording since they closed shop. Since they started designing for other companies though I’m less grippy on them. Except those blooms with the thread, I LOVE those!

Almost everything is Sass except a smidge of AC and SC Mr Huey and the Washi tape. Gotta have the Washi tape!

Well its been a crazy week here and I hope yours has been crazy awesome too! I’ll see you again next week!

Back to School Haircut Layout

Happy Wednesday!

Today I was going to have the reminder and color list for the Wednesday Live Color Along but with two sickies I had to change my game plan and have a layout to share with you instead.

Yes! A Layout.

I’ve been trying on my crafty Sunday (while I watch football) to do some scrapping just for fun. I really want to thank the Paper Issues GIrls for some photography tips for my layouts, drove me nuts when they looked all wonky! I still have to find a good spot to photograph them or get another lamp or something but at least they’re straight :) Progress.

This LO is on the big haircut my daughter got prior to school, when she went from shoulder length to short hair. It was all she wanted and multiple attempts by her to do it herself convinced me to go get it done. And she couldn’t look cuter!

Papers are an old/new mix of Love Elise, October Afternoon, AC and Crate Paper. Washi Tape I got from Paper Issues (I think they’re Freckled Fawn), with Crate, Sassafras and Cosmo Cricket stickers; and a AC Flair along with some SC Mister Huey splatters.

Thanks for stoppin by! :D

Head First

May 23rd, 2011 by Kristy

This is how I always see my daughter being, finding something she likes and wants then going after it with everything she has, HEAD first. Being HEAD strong, and bull HEADed. She’s not afraid to speak her mind and try to get what she wants.

Already.

She’s 6.

lol

But she’s my girl and I wouldn’t want her any other way. For all of that, she’s soooooo dainty! Pulling weeds in the garden she plucks them between thumb and forefinger then tries to talk her way out of more after one or 2. All about planting the flowers but weeding? That’s dirty work HA!

I’m heading to meet with the exercise physiologist and the dietitian this afternoon to start my VLCD program. Wish me luck!

I’ve also linked up to the Creative Collage Link up party :) HI!!!

This is my entry for Sassafras’ May Challenge :)

I don’t get to scrapbook a ton anymore but I took almost the whole weekend off and spent part of Friday and Saturday getting my scrap on!  It was tons of fun! 99% of the things on this LO is from Sassafras, the only things that aren’t are the Glimmer Glam dripped on and the washi tape. The rest is all a mix of Sass papers from Ellie’s Tale and Sweetly Smitten and a mix of old and new Sass embellis.

The LO is hubs helping Chicka learn to ride her bike without her training wheels :) So cute and sweet! She’s still got some practicing to do though. It doesn’t help the driveway is dirt and we live rural so there’s no straight sidewalks to get a running start on.

I’m going to have to designate an afternoon once a week for scrapbooking :)

Tea for Two!

May 4th, 2011 by Kristy

Last fall, yes I’m one of those scrappers that doesn’t scrap in order, Chicka was dead set on having an evening Tea Party outside :) She set up her blanket, brought out her Tinker Bell tea set and all her guests and set up on the lawn. Chicka was so solumn as she set the blanket with plates, saucers and cups. Kenton came out to help poor the tea and in the late afternoon sun we all enjoyed pretend Earl Grey and crumpets :)

And its Party Time over at Paper Issues! We want to see any, new or old, of your Party Themed projects. So put your hat on and get out your sound makers and LINK UP!

Spent Sunday Craftin…

April 4th, 2011 by Kristy

Besides a little photo session, I think I actually took a day off of work on Sunday AND IT FELT GOOD.  :-D I did some for me things, didn’t get out of my jammies and had a crafty day/movie day. Well the kids had the movie day mostly, Esme isn’t feeling well so she snuggled in my bed and watched movies on the new TV in the bedroom. She did come out and craft with me for an hour or so but she went on back to bed after a snack and some sticker play. Poor Chicka-Boom (my latest in a string of names for her lol).

For my layout I took inspiration from the Sketch at Sketchy Thursday but added on more pics. I kept the layered side but also flipped the whole thing.

I stitched the crap outta this LO too, kinda in flow chart fashion :) I couldn’t help but to want to scrap these pics, its been exciting (and tiring) around here and it seems such a beginning that the title “1 Step at a Time” just seemed not only so appropriate but a reminder. At least I’ll be able to give a release date after I get one bit of confirmation info today so fingers crossed and we can get the ball rolling! They’re burning a hole in my pocket it seems lol.

What did you do this weekend? I hope you had some chillax time!!!

This weekend

February 7th, 2011 by Kristy

I actually decided that I was not going to do anything work related and basically veg’d out and did a couple just for fun projects :) Zarah was having a lil celebration over at the Nook and so I jumped on that (with some gentle prompting and polite arm twisting lol!) and had fun on Saturday craftin away! It was fun to have nothing saying I had to get this done and I got a couple pages done to boot :) You are now going to be inundated with project pics LOL!

First I help Zarah with an example for one of her card challenges (on Friday)…

Then there was a bookmark challenge I had to get in on! I usually fold
the corner or bend the book and leave it open so here was mine!
its double sided, going over the top on the page with felty clouds.
 front
it peekin out of my book :) yes, I read fantasy books (great series btw!)

back
and I made it magnetic! I slipped a couple of those $1 section Ms magnets
under the pattern paper so they clamp down on the pages bc I am
always droppin my book or the kids are “dropping” it.
Her next challenge was a sketch challenge with the twist that the
theme of the page had to be about something that made you happy or you were
grateful for. This was my take…
lots of Sass, some MM and MME and tons of stitching :)

This is my take on the other sketch challenge :)
I caught Dude reading in bed one night, he was suppose to be sleepin
but its too cute not to take pics of lol! I used more Sass, some scraps,
misted, stitched over the title, then I put some Rock Candy over some parts
then rubbed paint into the cracks.

That was my weekend mostly HA! Sunday was alot of reading said book, watching the Super Bowl and I ate some chinese food that made it here all the way from my home town! What a treat!!! Hubs had to take MIL & FIL to the airport in Kzoo and was so nice to stop and bring home Hot and Sour Soup, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Chicken Fried Rice all from Great Wall. The BEST place I’ve gotten chinese food from. He brought home two quarts of soup and let’s just say, I’m the only one in the house who eats it! WOOHOO! That’s 4 big bowl, 3 left now :) My tummy was super happy yesterday!
I hope your weekend was fabby too! I’m feeling much more relaxed and happy to start my day! Back on schedule, the schedule that was blown outta the water with all the snow days last week. Back on the game plan today!
