Artsy Friday: Calligraphy Style

image

I took a semester of calligraphy in high school, I started doing it in elementary as a reward for getting my work done in class, I’m the person who practiced my Ds because I didn’t like how I was writing them until they got better, yet the idea of actually doing calligraphy now is for some reason really intimidating.

Jason and I are planning big this year and working on pulling those big ideas off. I’ve never been somebody who’s confident in my skills, and still are very “shy,” for lack of a better term, about showing off or standing tall about what I do. So I’m trying to live the mantra above and I figured that doing it can be followed by believing it… Or that’s what I’m going to keep telling myself until maybe sometime in the future I do believe that.

It’s spring break here this week and I decided to take the week off of drawing or doing anything stressful on my hand, to give it a rest, and I can feel a big difference in it today. So I think after I get some tasks done (assuming the kids let me), I’ll work on some drawing. After I do some stretches and exercises of those new balls that is.

I got asked on Instagram by Nate Burleson, who now plays for the Browns but was one of my most favorite players on the Lions, to draw him and that’s a perfect reason bust out my pencil. I may or may not have squealed very loudly when I checked Instagram this morning. Super crazy awesome!

Alright, I’ll see you guys next week, when everything is back on a normal schedule around here. Enjoy your weekend!

(Funny how Artsy Friday has turned into a piece of art and a mini journal post lol.)

Ok, I am not even a big sports person and I squealed for you! LOL!! (SO COOL) I totally used to sit and perfect my letters too. Loved my friends J’s and a’s, so I would do them the same as her until they became natural. Caligraphy is the same….lot of practice. You can do it.

Holy Catfish is that way cool! What a huge honor that is! Hope your enjoying Spring Break! Ours was last month which was way too early this year but since my daughter does schooling from home her schedule is super flexible. Enjoy your fun time with those precious kiddos! 🙂
