It wouldn’t be coloring week without a giveaway of some coloring goods! Well I feel totally geeked that I have this to share with you today for a giveaway directly from Copic Markers!

This set has their 36 most popular colors with the Super Brush and Fine tips. This set has only been available for just over 2 weeks here in the states and its been wildly popular! It retails at just over $250 but you can win it here!

Omgosh, this is the coolest giveaway ever! I’d say you are SO down with the Copic people for sure! *giggle* I really want this set – I just love the idea of having those fine tips along with the brush tip. As for my FAVORITE color family, it would have to be the BG’s, no matter which set I use, they just color beautifully and blend so well with eachother. Wow what a prize! My favourite colour family are the earth tones… I like playing around and finding different combinations for skin tones. I believe that getting the skin tone right is the most important thing when colouring, its like having the perfect foundation to work from. My favorite color family is YR 😉
One of my most used is YR31 Light Reddish Yellow, not because I love the color but it’s great for hair. It’s not blond or red but on the small stamps it comes off looking more like a very light brown almost blondish color. I find that, since the images for stamps are so small, brown hair is hard to color as it comes off as too dark. So I go for this as a nice neutral every day hair color.

I like the Grey Tones… I unfortunately havnt had the chance to do color work due to a lack of funds to get Copics. Anyways I would say the Grey tones are my favorite because Im limited in what medium I use, so they really remind me of the realistic gradations of lead, simplified. That is a hard question as it would depend on what mood I am in but having. I know that the ones I am after are “Earth” colours as they have flesh tones (and it’s what everyone should start off with.
But if I’m going to pick a colour I want to give my reasons behind it… My colour family is “Red” as it’s the colour I commonly use, it is the colour themes of Love, Hate, Anger, Desire, Passion and Danger… Red seems to be a powerful colour… when you see a some TV shows red symbolize heroism and leadership; In sports wearing red (or if you are an anime character with red hair) you are considered to be a strong, dominant and agressive fighter, but that is not always the case when you are in the original Star Trek… you won’t live long and prosper.

I, apparently, have been living under a rock – I just recently heard about copic markers and am dying to try them. I really love all colors and I would be truly hard pressed to choose just one color or color group, but I’ve recently been asked to illustrate some e-books a friend wrote for children and I think a basic color set of copic markers would be just the ticket! At first I thought that was an easy question to answer…and then I started to think about it…and then I had to go look at my markers…lol.i am still having trouble picking just one color family…it is a toss up between blue-violet (BV) and yellow-green (YG). However, looks can be deceiving! I love all the colors! You can’t use one color group to create everything! It takes many colors to create a pretty piece. Any who, I’m attempting to receive my BFA in illustration(I’m a freshman at a community college), and even though I work 40-48 hours a week, the cost of living and tuition has a fine way of digging into my wallet, and taking all of my money! So being lucky enough to win these sweepstakes would be awesome! Because 1) I wouldn’t be able to afford it without months of saving, and 2) I never win anything! Haha

My favorite color family is the grays – I’m always using the cool grays and neutral grays for everything to do renderings and value studies. Plus, I like that with COPIC even if you start out with gray values only, you can layer a hue right on top to get the color that you want!

Ah, the earth tones are my very favorite. From those nibs flow my favorite subjects. Even though I have never been there, I fell in love with the African savanna from a young age, and I especially love the hoofed denizens of that realm. Copic’s earth tones provide all the fur, hair, tufts, horns, and hooves that I need to fill a waterhole, in addition to all those crispy dry plants. Like old explorers, naturalists, great white hunters, and safari-goers before me, I am enthralled with the deep, warm, steady, thick colors of the earth tones.

Wow! Would LOVE to have this “Limited Edition” set! Been wanting Copic markers (range of colors, environmentally friendly!) since they were first introduced however, the price is Way out of my budget…sigh
My favorite color family are pinks, blues, greens, yellows…pinks remind me of “unconditional” Love, blues remind me of the Ocean (especially, Hawaii’s Beaches), Sky (where Eagles soar, “Heaven”), greens remind me of Mother Natures vast Foliage that covers the Earth, yellow reminds of Sunshine, Happiness.
