Nouveau Inspired Challenge

The challenge this time around at Some Odd Girl goes right along with our new release asking you to take inspiration from the artist who inspired the Art Nouveau movement, my fav of all time artist, Alphonse Mucha! Specifically his piece, Thistle in the Sands.

I find his line work, flow and feel just amazing while having a graphic quality that appeals to me 🙂 ANYWAYS lol. You might be inspired by the colors or some of the elements or anything else but be inspired and create! That’s what I did and here’s what I came up with…

I was inspired by the colors and the circular motif which I recreated with alot of layers, stamping and fussy cutting. Frankly I was GEEKED when I stamped around that circle I cut with my nestie and it was PERFECT on the spacing so they all fit. I thought I’d have to hide something lol.

I used papers from MME and kept my coloring of Believe fairly simple and light to make her stand out on the darker, layered background. Believe is stamped with Memento and colored with Copics on X-Press It cardstock:

Hair: E41, E42, E43
Skin: E000, E00, E01, W2, R000, R00, R01, R32, R35
Eyes: BG000, BG01, BG02
Clothes: Y21, Y23, Y26
Flowers/Leaves:YG91, YG93, YG95, YR20, YR21, YR12, E71, E74, E77

So now its your turn! Let’s see how Thistle in the Sands inspires you!

I love that picture. Just gorgeous. I will be downloading a new SOG stamp today and I think it will be perfect for the tones in this picture. I am saving up for the nouveau ladies and perhaps DH will get them for me for Christmas…Kristy…..do you take wish list emails for some strong hints to DHs who are CLUELESS about our crafty needs? lol
