Spooky Goodies – Printing digital files on fabric

Hello all! I’m Diana Fisher, stopping by to share my Some Odd Girl project for the 30 Days of great stuff that Kristy has orchestrated for her birthday bash. I have to say that I am so excited to be a part of this! Not only do I think Kristy is the bees knees as a person and an artist, I’m also honored to share my birth date with her! Yep, we are birthday buddies!

For my project, I used two older Some Odd Girl digital stamps—ghostie and spooktacular. Of course, this project will work with any Some Odd Girl digital stamp.

I took the digital files and sized them in Photoshop to a 4″ x 6″ document and then floated the image in the center.

I then used freezer paper to get the fabric into the printer. It’s very easy. Just cut the freezer paper to the same 4″ x 6″ dimensions and also cut your fabric swatch. Iron the fabric to the freezer paper, glossy side backed to the fabric. You’ll notice that now your fabric is ready to be put into an ink jet printer.

Set the file to print, and vióla, your digital image will now be printed onto your fabric.

Play around with the opacity of the file as well as the type of fabric you use. For the goodie bag, I printed the artwork onto a thicker fabric with 100% black, making it pop more. I then made a little burlap bag, sewing the fabric artwork to the front.

For the card, I used a more opaque version of the digital file and a lighter weight fabric, too. Completely different look by experimenting with the weight of the fabric and the artwork.

I hope I’ve encouraged you to try something new. Of course, if you do make something, make sure to share your creation in the comments section so we can see what you made.

And thanks again to Kristy for inviting me to her 30 days of celebration! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SWEETS!!!

I knew there had to be a better reason to have freezer paper around than to wrap frozen fish and leftover meatloaf in! Love your little treat bag and the cute ghost.

What a cute little ghost, I have always prefered cute halloween over scary! Thanks for sharing the tut. I think creativity is endless (except when it comes to me, mine ended sometime when I was 3 or 4!) and your blogs help assist those who want to craft but lack it a bit more!

This is such a fab idea 🙂
I think we call it grease-proof paper here – it’s the sandwich wrap stuff that’s like thick tracing paper???
