    Nerd Bird

Some Odd Girl has some new digi stamp Owls in our shop and this one, Nerd Bird, looks more and more like Kip from Napoleon Dynamite to me the more I look at him… you can’t unsee that comparison.  Because its true. Ha. While Nerd Bird is not officially associated with his doppelganger cousin Kip, he is available (and way fun to color!) at Some Odd Girl. I’ll be sharing my other card, with Tired Owl, another day. He and I need some caffeine first.  Have a great week!   Copics: W0, W1, W2, W3, W4, W7E40, E41, E42, E44BG70, BG90BG11, BG23, BG57YG00, YG01, Y13, Y15, Y19

Layering a Scene in Photoshop Video Tutorial

A bit ago I shared with you how to take a JPEG and turn it into a layerable PNG. From that video I had requests to show more PNG goods, so today I’m sharing the basics of layering and sizing a scene in Photoshop. You can use the full CS version for this OR Photoshop Elements. This is going to be a little precursor to next month when I share some more advanced techniques so bust out that dusty, used only for photos, Photoshop and come play with your digi stamps! For my scene I used the digi stamps Daydream Fairy and Mushroom Garden, they compliment each other pretty well, eh? If…

    Nerdy Tia Digi Stamp

Whoot! Its almost time for back to school! I love my kiddos but Momma needs some alone time. Today’s new Some Odd Girl Digi Stamp is Nerdy Tia, she’s totally ready to go back to school with her pencil and books ready. She is Tobie’s counterpart from earlier in the month so if you want a geeky pair for cards or scrapbook pages, you’re covered. For my card I went deep in my stash ball pen and pulled out 2 old SC papers and the pencils from Prima. You know I had to have that pencil paper when it came out and I’ve been hoarding it hardcore. Tia with her…

    Ollie Birthday Card

I have a quick bit of Digi Stamp/Clear Stamp smish-spiration for you today.  I had this cute lil’ digi image of Ollie Glee colored up with no place to go, he obviously was excited for something… Putting away my clear stamps I came across the party hat Clear Stamp from Preppy Pups and finally Ollie had somewhere to go, A BIRTHDAY PARTY! Can’t you see how excited he is? I had already fussy-cut him out, and I think with the neon pink paper, he needs that white border, so I stamped and colored the party hat, gave the poof a little bit of flocking and cut it out, leaving the…

    JPEG to PNG Video Tutorial

Today I have a video done for Movie Monday with Some Odd Girl, bringing you a bit of an insider tip on taking your JPEG (or JPG) images and making them into easily layerable PNGs. If you’re new to digi stamps, then that may sound like a ton of goobledy-gook, but it’s actually pretty simple.  Basically, a JPEG is an image that has a solid white background, while a PNG is a different type of image file that has a transparent background. I know not all digi stamps come with both formats, though ours do, so I’m going to show you how I take my images from JPEG to PNG,…

    Drink Recipe Book

Today I’m with you sharing a bit or inspiration you can easily make as a hostess gift or just for yourself. This lil’ drink recipe book can keep all your fancy drink recipes right handy, or fill it up for your hostess as a welcome gift. I created a small book, measuring at just 5.75″ x 4.25″, using some layered pattern paper, washi and letter stickers. Binding it was as simple as punching 3 holes, threading my twine thru and tying it closed. With this method it would be a breeze to add more pages.  Cheers Kaylee (digi stamp) is colored to go with my color scheme, her drink being a…

    100% Organic Awesome

Today is a lil smish-up of a creation over a few different Some Odd Girl clear stamp sets, milk box from Cookies n Milk, hat and stash from the Hipster Pets, & the sentiment is from Hipster Kody. I thought it all came together in a fun way, especially since he’s a drinkable dude… chocolate milk drinkable, yum! Papers for this card are all from my scrap box, that floral paper is one of my all-time-horde-all-the-pieces-favorites. I think its Crate Paper. Inks are Memento, Paris Dusk, Black Tuxedo & Rich Cocoa. Milk is colored with a combo of Chameleons and Copics…  Chameleons: CG8, BR2, BR5, BK4Copics: R05, BG11, W0, W5 I’m…

    New Digi Stamp, Pearl Mermaid

YAY! Today is new Digi Stamp Release Day at Some Odd Girl and here is my card for the occasion, with Pearl Mermaid. I spent a LOT of time coloring her up for the website so when I went to make the card to go with it none of the patterned paper I had seemed to “work”. I ended up deciding to go very CAS and let that coloring work stand mostly alone. The patterned paper I did end up using, along with the sequins, goes with how I colored her scales and pearl she’s holding. Simple yet effective I think. My card might be CAS but you NEED to…

    Leaf Magic, new digi stamp

This week at Some Odd Girl is new digi week! I have a new girl, Leaf Magic, to add to our collection of digi stamp Fairies. She seems like the super girl of fairy land with that up, up, and away pose I think.  I was REALLY unsure about the layout of this card, as I mentioned in our Facebook Community, and still am going back and forth. I think its a “like” not a “love” with this one but I’m finding it interesting to look at design wise. Weird how that happens sometimes.   I also added week 3’s batch of retirees to our Retirement Sale, a lot of…

Movie Monday, Using Liquid Masking Fluid & Airbrushing

Happy Monday! Today its a Movie Monday with Some Odd Girl and I am bringing you a video on using liquid masking fluid to prep for airbrushing your background. I show you how I prepped and airbrushed the background for our newest Digi Stamp, Swing Mae.  Want to see the video? Hop over to the Some Odd Girl blog and see the video. I got kinda fearful doing this video so I’m sure this makes for more funny for you 😉 Funny but informational, a pretty great combo I think!   Don’t forget our Retirement Sale all thru May (not Mae, hehe). New items are up in the shop today…
