Sketching…

by Kristy on February 27, 2012

Well I caught the sick my hubs brought home then gave to my son then gave to me and now my daughter has it. greaaaaaaat. I have a commission to work on that I’ll be working on today now that I can actually think further than 2 + 2 but I did manage to do 1 drawing in about a 4 day period so I thought I would share a peek of it :) I’m kind of thinking ahead toward the warmth of summer (maybe that was the fever?)… what are some summery things you like to see and use on your creations?

Copic Catalog 2012

by Kristy on February 24, 2012

I have a big nerd moment to share today.

Could I look anymore nerdy and geeked out? :3 I don’t think so. Its purty ridiculous though, I have 4 pages in the 2012 Copic Catalog!!! EEEK! You can see the full catalog on line HERE and I so suggest you do bc there is some fabulous art in it!!! The whole catalog is amazing in the way its put together. You can specifically see me on pgs 28-31 but along with the other fabby artists there are snippets of our art included thru out in different sections. :) Here are my 2 2 page spreads…

:DD

Swoon.

Seriously. I still don’t think I’ve accepted it really happened but I had to share as it might be one of my proudest art moments ever!

Fan… I’m a fan

by Kristy on February 23, 2012

Yesterday was the last reveal over at Some Odd Girl and this girly was on the docket… Fan! I love drawing these, maybe I’ve mentioned that lol, but she was really fun. I think her flowy dress is also going to be really fun for the summer too. Maybe I’m looking forward to weather that doesn’t include snow and freezing wind.

Maybe. :3

Today I didn’t have to spend my morning at preschool because of a 2 hour Ice delay so I  might be able to catch up if not get a smidge ahead. What a flippin novel concept. Though I have to admit the kids at preschool are so dang cute that its been fun. The new girl who started in January finally talked to me and we talked about deers and kittens and she doesn’t talk to anyone! That made it super special! I have 2 cuties who like to play kitchen and bring me “treats” to “snack” on and frankly all 13 of them are just too much fun. I just want to give them hugs bc they all have little personalities and seeing them grow has been special. It was funny having a strategic discussion on Plants vs Zombies with a 5 year old lol!

Anyway, that’s why I’ve been a bit behind here. I had been doing so well! I think I need to spend an hour planning ahead though even that seems tough. Brain might be a bit fried lol.

So do you have anything fun or special going on?

Wishes

by Kristy on February 21, 2012

This is my fav card of the week! All the paper I used (except the very center cloud paper, that’s Sass) is from AC’s Chap line. I seriously fell in love with that line the minute I saw it… got it… then unintentionally horded it… found it again and now I’m cutting the crap outta it! The Chap line is a masculine line but I took it as a challenge almost to make something a little more girly HA! I laugh in your faces!

:3

Yup, not that dramatic, but still. I stamped Wishes with Memento’s London Fog grey ink and colored her very softly to kind of match the feel the papers were giving me.

You can’t see it but the twinkles behind her wings are touched sparkley with my Spica pen, a more subtle bling than the sequined ribbon :) Don’t forget to comment on the SOG Blog for a chance to win your very own Wishes set!

I think my blog needs a little make over. I don’t know how I’m going to work that in but I might have to at least give it some thought. Something more perky I think :) Good thing if I come up with something I can shunt it off to my hubs to do lol. Poor man.

Dance!

by Kristy on February 20, 2012

Woot! New release time at Some Odd Girl! This go we have brand new Clear Stamp sets of the striking Nouveau Girls! I’m really having alot of fun drawing these. They typically take more time but I think the results have been well worth the effort. Today we are debuting Dancer with a little giveaway too on the Some Odd Girl Blog.

I actually got some crafty time on Sunday after I got some other work done. I was super excited to get to rock some papers! Or attempt to rock some papers lol. It was a slooooooooooow start! I think my last card of the evening, that you’ll see tomorrow, is my fav of the 3. If it wasn’t so dang late when I finished up I might have kept going but nope. DH had inventory last night and I NEVER sleep well when he’s not home so I tried to stay up a bit later so I could get a decent stretch of sleep, I’ll let you know how the rest of the day goes before I decide if it works out :)

I was trying to channel some vintagey feel with the yesterdays creations and I’m not sure I hit the nail on the head but I like the results either way. I also wen’t a little softer on the shadows on the coloring for this one as I thought it might add to the vintage look.

Maybe.

eh?

I’m stickin with it XD Now as we go thru this week, don’t hesitate to leave me your ideas for the next Nouveau Girls release. I LOVE hearing them! They sometimes make me think in different paths and that’s purty awesome :)

Motivation

by Kristy on February 17, 2012

It has been a rough week around here. Not as rough as some I know (seriously) but without creating a woe as me post chronicling it instead I went looking for a pick me up and some motivation to climb back thru what’s on my plate to get done and finally get caught up then ahead.

I don’t like dwelling. I’m a get it figured out, take care of and do it sort of person. So I took a Pintrest trip and from a pin to a blog, to another blog to a site thru a section I found this gem, by Matthew Kavan Brooks, that spoke to me SO MUCH not only did I have to have it it got me a bit teary. Seriously that kind of week.

The point is, some times we all need reminders and motivation.

The reminders or motivation may be different for everyone but we all get down in the dumps and swamped by concerns and matters so pressing that they make you lose focus on what matters and what we really need to be paying attention to and this print brings it all back for me. Its going to go right on the wall, right next to my desk in its 13 x 18 glory.

So that begs the question and maybe your answer will help others, what do you do to get motivated? What do you do to remind yourself of all the awesome you have?

Project Features…

by Kristy on February 16, 2012

Howdy howdy! I shared this card on the Some Odd Girl blog on Monday if you want to take a peeky :) I wanted to make sure I posted it here too. This is one of my cards I submitted to Papercrafts last call that didn’t make it but oh well, I had lots of fun making it. It seemed to come together so well and I was amazed at how many matching elements I had for this color combo lol.

In other news, heh roving reporter, I’ve got a few things in the works that are super exciting that fingers crossed comes to fruition. But right now the thing that has me the most excited is that the first class at Created from Color (besides a technical glitch that fried my brain figuring it out on day 1) is going fab! I’m having tons of fun meeting all of our students for this session! There’s such a diverse group of talented people that I am thrilled and just want to give them all big HUGS.

Now if I could just have a live in assistant to keep up on the laundry and keeping things clean and organized I think I’d be a completely happy girl lol

CHA ReCap Day 4

by Kristy on February 15, 2012

See what happens with sicky kids? Everything gets behind lol Today I’ve got the last photos from my CHA trip! I have alot of AC yumminess to share and a couple other purties as well :)

This is the Dear Lizzy Booth in the massive American Crafts booth area… you simply couldn’t call it a booth, it was massive! The whole area here looked just so cute and I love the running video on that apple monitor. The big balloons like on the video were also a great touch. You can see the video on Youtube.

This is the Amy Tangerine portion. I’m so in love with this new line as well! And I SO dig that both of these, Dear Lizzy’s Neopolatan and Amy Tangerine’s Sketchbook, will be coming out in the 6×6 pad! SWOON! They have a completely different feel but you can bet your bottom I’ll be mixing them!

Next we got to meet the amazingly sweet Heidi Grace! Its intimidating to meet anyone that you well know by name as you never know but she was fantastic! Odd Girl Annette (in the pink on the left) is friends with her and was so nice to make introductions! I’m so glad we got to meet both of them! Annette was so spunky and fun too! I gave Heidi some of our stamps and I can’t wait to see what she creates! Total fan girl moment! You can see the yummy new lines from her on her blog too! Some awesome things on the way that I might need!

The sun going down on our last night in California :)

The concourse between terminals B and C at O’Hare in Chicago. I realize I haven’t flown since 1988 when I was 7 but this little area totally came as a surprise and it was frankly lovely with the neon rainbow.

yup, me = nerd.

Well like I mentioned both kids are home sick so I have a rare chance to get some catch up done and I’m going to take it! MWAH!

CHA Recap Day 3

by Kristy on February 12, 2012

Day 3 and we’re kicking off in what seemed like to me the Disneyland of CHA, the happiest place on earth, Doodlebug’s booth! (Click any pic to see it bigger) If you know me you’ll realize just looking at the booth I could not fail to be attracted to the white, turquoise and lime combo. SWOON. Total fav!

I want every single pack of these colored/shaped card base packs! Imagine the possibilites!

I already have the colored bling in the second row but its almost gone so you can bet I’ll be getting more, those buttons and that brad pack with the scissors and spools and hearts, can you say In Stitches Tia? PERFECT!

This is the Crate Paper booth. I love how they hung their papers and how the whole booth had such a homey feel to it!

more from Crate. This line totally caught my eye! I really dig how almost every company is doing a 6×6 pad now too!

Here is October Afternoon’s booth. Not my greatest photography but their booth was always packed so getting a good shot was next to impossible lol. The clothes lines for the papers was really fun too

Next a couple yummy things from the Heidi Swapp booth. Excuse the blurriness, I think this is where my phone was like I’M A PHONE NOT A CAMERA and didn’t want to focus lol. OR it was one of those days we skipped breakfast and my hands were wobbley lol. Not a great combo. ANYWAY these are fab, sequined or glittered up, some on paper clips. All I could think of was SMASH book. I of course want them all XD

I was diggin on these little banners, especially the blank white ones. Mist’em, paper piece’em, color’em, glitter’em… anything you want! What a cute idea! I’ll say that I’m not usually a Heidi Swapp fan but her booth had a lot of great things in it!

And lastly today, for my Dude, these foam Angry Birds. Red Bird and Poop On Bird (his name for white bird lmao!). Friggin huge and awesome. There was alot of Angry Birds stuff floating around CHA! Seemed a little weird but there it is. Well, I’ll have the last of my run down on TUESDAY. See ya then!
