I super love this pic of my little family!

We were out to dinner and my Dude was wanting to be super snuggly, and who can say no to snuggles? It was a great pic for a mother’s day type LO.

heart-cu

This little heart I created with some twine (I think its Timeless Twine but not completely sure, it was a giftie) that was glued at the key points, like where it turned or twisted, around the striped sequins, those I got on Ebay.

my-fam-cu

The rest of these goodies, minus the thickers, blue Sassafras heart paper and blue doodlebug glitter paper, are all from Paper Issues! I know there’s Studio Calico, Allison Kreft/Websters, Basic Grey, Cosmo Cricket and Crate Paper in there. I really had fun with this LO, layering it on.

I haven’t had a ton of crafting mojo of late but this was awesome and came together really easily (not quickly though lol).

I’m linking it up to the current Paper Issues theme sponsored by Pink Paislee where they are looking for Mother’s Day projects or anything using Pink Paislee. You know you have some so get on it, you have thru Saturday! :)

*** I’ve been down and out with the flu since Monday and my fam since last week so this week’s color along is getting pushed back a week to when I can sit at my desk for an hour***

Here’s the colors I used for this No-Lines edition of the color along

Skin: YR000, YR00, E11, E21, E04, R11, R12, R34
Hair: E30, E31, E34, E37, E59
Clothes: Y32, Y35, Y38, Y26, E55, YG11, YG13, YG17, YG67
Basket: E53, E55, E57
Shadows: BV20, BV23, BV25

I had to put an hour and a half cap on this one, I knew it would take longer. You can see that on my Ustream Channel (I can’t direct link to the video but you’ll see it in the video list).

I used Xpress It for the paper and with as much color as I was laying down I really regret it. It got the dreaded gunks so I couldn’t tweak the shading as much as I wanted. If you don’t layer as much as I do then the wonderful blendability of the Xpress It will be great for you but I lay it on thick.

Here’s the upcoming schedule…

May 22 – 1pm EST – Pirate Kaylee
May 29 – 8pm EST – Dandelion Fairy
June 5 – 1pm EST – School Mae

If you colored along on this one I hope you’ll share your own No-Lines coloring!

If you are looking for a coloring challenge to get in on check out the 30 Day Coloring Challenge going on over at the Some Odd Girl Community! Don’t worry about being behind, just start with Day 1 when you’re ready! 30 fun prompts to get you out of your coloring box.

Mushroom-Garden-diptic

Last night I had a crap ton of fun watching a movie with my hubs and coloring up this image for the release at Some Odd Girl today. New Background digis are headed into the shop with more on the way!

I’m not sure why this was so much fun but omg I colored this sucker for over an hour, almost 2 maybe (how long is the movie Bad Boys 2? that’s what hubs wanted to watch) and super enjoyed it.

I googled mushroom pics for my colors and went to town! I didn’t write it down, there’d be about a million markers anyway but there’s plenty of room to play.

If you want to see how you can use this with your other digis, hop over to the Some Odd Girl blog today and check out Katie’s AWESOME Digital Merging Tutorial! You’ll be a pro in no time!

pouty-gif

Howdy folks! I’ve been in a crafty slump if you haven’t noticed but my drawing mojo hasn’t been dampened any

weird

they’re normally so very co-dependent that I think they should get a room

So until I can recover my mojo

and I’m really trying!

you’ll have a lot more sketches and stuff out of me. I hope you don’t mind!

this sketch is of my daughter, though right now I’m imaging its my crafty mojo.

btw! You have thru tomorrow to enter Odd Idol! The prize is amazing and passed the $600 mark so go see it!!!

EPIC PANTS!

heh

This week was fraught with Ustream bungles so unfortunately this massive undertaking of coloring Mad Hatter Kody is not recorded (one reason to tune in Live!) but I still have to share.

The pants.

The pants were an idea I had that I was so unsure about I put off until last even though I encourage you to tackle that kind of thing first but luckily I managed to pull them off. They’ve become known as the Epic Pants lol. Its a joke that I hope lives on :)

Another weird thing about this is even though this is the most colors I’ve ever pulled out for a Color Along and there are few repeats in any area it all goes together somehow. Explain that! I can’t.

Here’s the color list…

Skin: E000 E00 E11 E04 R11 R12
Hair: E97 E99 E18 YR14
Eyes: B60 B63 B66
Clothes:
Coat – V93 V95 V99 RV55 RV66
Vest – YR04 YR07 YR24 YR27
Bow – BG34 BG45 BG49
Pants – YG11 YG13 YG17 YG95 Y38 E08
Shoes – E71 E74 E77
Socks – N3 N5 N7 N9
Hat – G43 G46 G99 YR04 RV55 RV66
Teapot: Y11 Y15 Y26
Shadows: BV20 BV23 BV25 BV29
and 0

see? massive.

Here’s the schedule for thru May…

May 1 – 1pm EST – Alice Mae (seemed appropriate after Mad Hatter.)
May 8 – 8pm EST – Picnic Mae
May 15 – 1pm EST – Pirate Kaylee
May 22 – 8pm EST – Dandelion Fairy

Last week Friday was my Dude’s 6th birthday.

He’s my baby! And he’s 6!  :noes:

And Dude wanted an Angry Birds themed birthday. Some of you may know that once upon a time I was a Cake Decorator, now a days I only do it twice a year. Dude’s birthday and a month later, Chicka’s birthday, so I tend to try and make it special. Its fun for them and for me :)

So this year I made Angry Birds fondant toppers for his chocolate cupcakes, he’s in an all boys Kindergarten and they were a hit!

angry-birds-cupcakes-kristy-dalman

Then for his actual birthday party I made a sheet cake and sculpted some actual birds, again out of fondant, to decorate the cake with.

angry-birds-fondant-kristy-dalman

Before you ooo and ahhh those were my first ever fondant sculpts so if I can do it anyone should lol. Then the cake is just a sheet cake (again he wanted all chocolate) iced with chocolate fudge frosting then some green tinted butter cream that I piped on with the grass tip. The “wood” structures are vanilla wafer cookies.

angry-birds-cake-kristy-dalman

I thought the cake was destined for the bin after that first pic but the grass sure brought it together!

I worked on all of this over the course of 3 days. It might seem like a lot of time but my son was so excited and he told me he thought it was the best cake ever, which made every hour worth it :)

Now I’m going to go snuggle him and nuzzle his short hair and pretend he’s tiny again.

Until he mentions burbs and toots.

That kills the illusion.
