I finally got to use my “Clearly Heavy Overlays” by Hambly! WOOT!

I bought a sheet with no really idea in mind but it was Hambly and I LOVE THEM!!! I still have half a sheet left from making a set of ATC cards for Artistic Papercrafting on CM.
I think the alcohol inks did a great job making the sky look….. um, well….. like sky. I didn’t have a good way to state that LOL!!! This is my first use of alcohol inks. I couldn’t believe how fast it dried and started out putting on my craft mat and dotting it on but when it kept drying up I starting to just pour it on the card and move it around. I used the color Stream for this :)
Hope you likey and thanks for all your comments! They make my heart super happy!!!

June 15th, 2009 by Kristy

I’m SO EXCITED! My first official challenge as a Gutter Girl is on the blog and on the books! YAY! Not sure if I lived up to the awesomeness put forward by the rest of the DT but its still exciting!

This LO was super fun and messy for me to make. It needed alot of clean up on my stamps LOL. The challenge is:
THE PROMPT:
You call me Bitch like it’s a BAD thing…?
THE SONG:
BITCH by Meredith Brooks
PRODUCT/TECHNIQUE:
BLACK
Here was my take…
I totally loved everyone’s subs but I especially loved how Glenda rolled all the images and accents and words together! Its totally inspiring! I hope everyone has a chance to head on over to Gutter Girlz and put your spin on this. There’s an awesome prize being given away for June AND you just might be our next GD!

A Quickie!

June 13th, 2009 by Kristy

I just wanted to quickly share this LO with you all!

This is one of my most FAV LO’s EVER! It was done for the Shoe for a Friday Pink/green color challenge. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do when I walked outside to check the mail and found this rare Morel Mushroom growing below some trees on my way to the box. Its the second one I’ve seen EVER. It just seemed INCREDIBLE to me! So after getting the mail (bill…. bill…. junk mail… bill…) I got the camera and snapped some pics!

The pp is Basic Grey, KI Memories and Senic Route; letter stickers, Sassafras Lass; Dymo Label maker and Studio G’s version of stickles. I also used my Fiskar’s finger knife so I guess that needs credit too. But, I use that thing EVERYWHERE so you should just assume it was used LOL!

By the by, look for me on Gutter Girlz for my first official challenge as a DT Girl on the 15th!!! YAY! I’m feelin the love today! I need it too!!!

(((HUGS))) to everyone!!!!

I’ve got a couple tidbits for ya today.

I think right now I am making more of a mess with my scrappy stuff than actually getting anything done! I didn’t clean up the mess I made from doing 2 LO’s yesterday (?, Monday?) then went to make an ATC today and made it worse! I actually was layering my crap to find a spot LOL!. BUT I did get that ATC done! WOOT! Cleaning of said mess will be Friday as I have to work then go to a friends house for dinner tomorrow so I won’t get home til LATE! I hope I’m not the only one out there in scrappy land with a desk disaster! C’mon! Make me feel better! I’m NOT doing it now! I got 4.5 hours of sleep and gotta be up again at 4:30 am. No! NOT NOW!
:)
But anyway, here is said ATC. It is for an awesome group on CM that Mistress Adina invited me to called Artistic Papercrafting. This is my ATC for the baby group. I will also be making one for the nature group but I didn’t have what I needed (when do I ever have enough?) so I ordered it today from Scrap-A-Doodle-Doo. I’m hoping to see it Monday! Anyway AGAIN…
I hope its up to snuff! If it is then I got 5 more to make. I got all the babies cut out at least.
My other tidbit is in the way of an announcement of sorts…
I AM OFFICIALLY A GUTTER GIRL!!!
WOOT! If you don’t know the blog Gutter Girlz then you need to STOP what you are doing RIGHT NOW and check it out!!! I’ve been playing along for a bit but now I’m on the inside and the team is wonderful and so friendly! Its going to be a BLAST!!! So you can check me out in three place now :) Here, on If the Shoe Fits… SCRAP IT! and Gutter Girlz! I am soooo feeling the love!

Well I got two things for ya’ll tonight. It could be three but I’m not sure if I’m aloud to tell the third one yet so its still a Sherlock Holmes case! HA!

One… I got a card to show ya! I finally got to use my Ketto Stamps! This one is Maisy (I believe…) and it was too fun to make especially coming out of my slump last week. Yeah. I forgot about it. I was waiting for the glue to dry and slipped right out of my brain. But any-who…
Lets see… Love, Elsie, Pink Paislee, AC, Jillibean Soup, Staz-on and an old book page make up this card :) I love it. Have you ever made something like this and NOT wanted to give it away? That kinda brings me (in an odd opposite kinda fashion…) to number 2…
Blog Candy! Not like the last one but with love all its own :)

New LO

June 1st, 2009 by Kristy

I think I am slowly regaining my mojo.

Maybe it helped that the kids were pretty good today. I kept waiting and waiting for some big drama to happen. The largest drama involved a drip of water on a PB sandwich. Go figure.
I did a couple cards today that came out pretty good but what I really wanted to show you was the first LO I think I’ve done in a week or more. My friend Tracey told me about a challenge on Simply Scrapping and urged me to try it so I did. The first part of the challenge was to do a sketch of your choice from the site that you hadn’t done before. I took a look and picked Sketch #10 and got started. I’ve had these pics laying around for a while that I loved. And while it didn’t follow the sketch perfectly it fit for me.

The bg paper is Basic Grey, the paper used in the circle, letter stickers and the clouds (large ones) are sassafras Lass, the little clouds are Love, Elsie. I also used like 1 million foam squares on this LO :)
I hope you all likey! Remember all comments are like fine candies. Something to savor!

B&C

May 27th, 2009 by Kristy

I just wanted to jump on and share the next two cards with you all :)

The prompt for B was “Because.” There is alot of layers on this card. It was kinda inspired by what Rachel had said about journaling the negatives then layering the positives. I put more than a few layers of paint, who knows what colors any more LOL, and then while it was still damp I used my AC rub-on stick to “write” the letters in the clay like paint.
For this one, “C,” the prompt was “Clearly.” I searched all over for something I liked when I remembered I had SHRINKY DINKS! HA! This IS attempt #2. #1 ended up being a total curly mess LOL. FYI don’t cut a shape out of the middle of a full sheet and expect it to be ok LOL!!!! I double baked it so it would be crystal clear :) I topped it off with some Hambly Rubons and used my slick writer to do the writing.
I hope you’re all liking these :) I appreciate everyone’s comments. I haven’t been in a scrappy mood lately but I have been drawing. I need a new scanner (mine is a POS!) so I can show you guys! Maybe I can talk poor DH into a new one.

The Return of the MOJO!

May 26th, 2009 by Kristy

I was mojo-less for almost a week! It was horrible! I kept looking at my stash and not having one drop of creative juice :P

Until yesterday.
I found this blog, A Year in the Life of an Art Journal, and am now totally hooked! I literally spent today starting from the begining and catching up all the way to the latest prompt.
PHEW!
It was liberating and fun, depressing and uplifting, energizing and draining all at the same time. I still need to make my “title page” but so far I have A-J done! I would like, for right now, to share A with you…
The prompt was “Action.” You can go to my flickr acct to see them all and see them bigger but I will definately be posting them all here eventually. I’m just whooped right now. Whooped but I have a smile on my face. How ironic :)
The lovely hostess is doing hers on an altered deck of playing cards but I wanted something just a smidgen bigger so I am doing mine in flashcard size. I was going to steal the mismatched flashcards that the kids aren’t using anymore but there weren’t enough so I cut my own out of black cardstock. I then painted and penned and topped off with a couple Hambly Rub-ons.
Oh! I should probably go ahead and share “J” as well since it is the most current one. That way I can link it up on the blog too :) The prompt for “J” was “Just.” You finish the thought. I went with “Just Me.”
That pink lace is the piece I used as a mask on my “Imagine” LO. :) I totally horded it! LOL!!!
You wouldn’t believe the (satisfying) mess I made in my lil area today. OMGosh I am not looking forward to cleaning that up after work tomorrow! Not doing it now LOL!!! Pop on over to the blog and check it out and if you still are wondering check out the AMAZING works on the Flickr group! Its a really bunch of talented ladies workin here :)
Thanks for checkin this out! LOVE LOVE LOVE all your thoughts and such!

Gutter Girlz…

May 18th, 2009 by Kristy

I’ve really got to get back in to my posting every couple days but its been so busy here. My dd just turned 4 yesterday!!! OMGosh! I can’t believe how tiny she was and now how big she is… but I do have a something to share with you today :)

I had fun doing this LO. I made the mask for the rose out of an old piece of plastic that I hung on to for some reason. Who knows why I keep things like that. It was also therapeutic for me. We are working really hard paying off debt to get a new house and this is just reaffirming it for me. Its getting there but slowly but it will get done!!! It says…
“Its not all Roses but when you’re looking up from Rock bottom there’s no where to go but up!”
The pp is Pebbles Inc; Love, Elsie cardstock stickers; stamps from Sassafras Lass and Autumn Leaves; Mini Aplhas by My Little Shoe Box.
I hope you all likey! Thanks for looking and I appreciate every comment!!!

a lil sumthin-sumthin…

May 12th, 2009 by Kristy

:)

This LO has quickly become one of my favs!!! It was for the Shoe and the challenge was to take elements off of all 5 of the DT’s LOs and make a new one. I ended up making a list of all the things I liked and seeing what I could work in. You’ll have to check out the Shoe for all the LO’s but here is my mash up…
Its got a ton of my favs on it! Basic Grey, Pink Paislee, Sassafras Lass and Love, Elsie. For the “lace” I used a piece of lace as a mask and sprayed watered down acrylic paint over it. It turned out super cool IMHO. The little wings next to the title are the Martha Stewart butterfly punch cut apart and then stickled. The title is the Mini Alpha Stickers by My Little Shoebox.
And if anyone is curious, I’ve totally gotten into Actions lately!!! That sounded dirty LOL!Let me rephrase that… Photoshop Actions. Its like a preset that you use to manipulate photos. I used 2 on this set of pics. Ghost glow and colorful glow I think (maybe that’s what their called). But almost any of the Lo’s you see upcoming from me will have the pics altered LOL. I simply can’t stop!!!! Ahhhh!
I hope you all like!!! Thanks to everyone who checks me out regularly, comment or no :)
