Tea for Two!

May 4th, 2011 by Kristy

Last fall, yes I’m one of those scrappers that doesn’t scrap in order, Chicka was dead set on having an evening Tea Party outside :) She set up her blanket, brought out her Tinker Bell tea set and all her guests and set up on the lawn. Chicka was so solumn as she set the blanket with plates, saucers and cups. Kenton came out to help poor the tea and in the late afternoon sun we all enjoyed pretend Earl Grey and crumpets :)

And its Party Time over at Paper Issues! We want to see any, new or old, of your Party Themed projects. So put your hat on and get out your sound makers and LINK UP!

Some Odd Girl Stamp Release Blog Hop!

April 22nd, 2011 by Kristy

Welcome Welcome Welcome to the Some Odd Girl Blog for our first Clear Stamp Release!

This is the last stop of the hop. You should have arrived from Caz’s Blog. If you started here at the end then hop back to the Some Odd Girl Blog to get started at the beginning :)

If you’ve just happened upon us today we are celebrating Some Odd Girl’s first Clear Photopolymer Stamp release coming on May 2nd. Each of the Odd Girls and our special Guests will be each featuring their fav stamp from the release with a creation on their blogs today. Our special guests for the hop today are Eva from For the Love of Life and Amy from A Thousand Sheets of Paper! These were two crafters that I looked (and look, present tense) up to when I first started making cards and coloring with Copics. I’m thrilled that they are joining us today!!!

Here is our Odd Hop list:

Balloon Kaylee has quickly become my fav from the release! She comes with her own Happy Birthday sentiment stamp too. I wish I could be a tiny thin girl and get in on the leg warmer fad. I always love ways to be comfy cozy and they look like they’d fit the bill! I also love that even though Kaylee is all grown up she’s not afraid to show her love for a bright red balloon. Everyone, young or old, needs to enjoy things like that.

I used Cosmo Cricket’s Upcycle line for my card and colored Kaylee with copics:

Hair: E23, E25, E27, E49
Skin: E000, E00, E01, R30, R32
Clothes: BG72, BG75, BG78, Y23, Y26, Y28, N1, N3, N5
Balloon: 0, R30, R32, R35, R37

Make sure to hop and comment on each blog, everyone who comments will be entered to win the complete 6 stamp set from our May 2nd Release! To get in on the hop giveaway you must leave your comments by Sunday at midnight EST. You must leave a comment for each blog (make sure to read the posts just in case something special is in store) to be eligible.

For your comment on my blog, I would like to know: Which stamp from the release that you’ve seen on your hop travels is your fav?

I’m so super freakin geeked that Release Day is so close now and we finally get to share all our hard work with you! Its seriously a dream come true. There’s been so much work and effort to get this far that having the stamps in hand with a date set just makes it all feel so real. I feel like a lil kid at christmas… you know what I mean… where they dance in place foot to foot with little claps and a big silly grin. Best feeling evah! :)

I hope you enjoyed the hop and I hope you’ll join us all next week where you can see all the releases featured one a day!

Stay Odd!

Sneaks Week! :)

April 12th, 2011 by Kristy

Yesterday was the start of the week of sneaks at Some Odd Girl :) This is my card for yesterday with Tiny Bubbles Tia. Totally based off the fact that my daughter is bubble queen. She has gone thru more bubble liquid than I think I ever have! Her fav birthday pressie from a couple years ago was a bubble blowing machine. She took so much delight in it, it was amazing!

Today the sneaks share the day when every girl should feel like a princess, her wedding day!  Kaylee and Mae obviously have different taste and it sure shows :)  I colored Bride Mae with Copics but on Bride Kaylee affter I placed the image it just seemed so purty in its just black and white line art form that I just decided not to color it. Both cards have a CAS feel to them but are as different as Mae and Kaylee. I wish I could pull either look off frankly lol. My wedding didn’t turn out well so feel free to say I’m living vicariously thru the girls  ;-)

For all three cards I used paper from their 6×6 pads. Either Emma’s Shoppe or Neighborhood. Rubons and Flair are American Crafts too.

Join us back again tomorrow on the SOG Blog for two more sneaks and don’t forget to leave your comments so you can be entered to win some loot!

And don’t forget to check out yesterday’s launch day post! Head over to the full list for a HUGE list of awesomeness and giveaways you can enter! You can enter my giveaway too  ;-)

Tickled Pink Stamps Blog Hop

April 10th, 2011 by Kristy

Howdy Pink fans! I hope you made it from Karen’s blog :) if you found this by chance and want to start at the beginning of the hop here.

I am giddy that Kellie asked me to Guest on the April Hop! She knows she’s my other side of the world girl and I was geeked to try out her new images!!! I made two tags for the two big things I’ve got coming up around these parts…

First is for my daughter’s 6th birthday.

6.

Geebus.

I don’t know when she got to be so old (or when I did for that matter!) but its true. She’s a girl who knows what she likes and would snap me a Z if she could snap her fingers. . She been big into Wii’s Just Dance game so I thought August would be great for her tag. I used Copics to color her and the paper is from Elle’s Tales from Sassafras, and Smitten’s banner stickers, and the 6 is Jenni Bowlin. I stitched the headphone cord with some twine for texture.

The second I made if for Mother’s day… Pippa totally reminded me of my daughter bringing me flowers  :-) It occurred to me that I have no one to use this tag for myself, I might have to get myself a mother’s day pressie and put the tag on or give it to the kids to use. Maybe even give it to DH to use for his mom. But I’m leaning toward keeping it, I  it! The papers are Smitten by Sass, Cosmo Cricket letter Stickers, mini scrabble tags from my stash given to me by my MIL eons ago, Twinery Caribbean Turquoise twine and some pink paint. Pippa is colored with Copics.

Well that’s my show for today :) Remember to comment on all the blogs so you can be entered to win the big ol prize Kellie is giving away!  From here you’ll want to be jumping on over to Maria to keep yourself on the blog trail.  :-D

Maybe ya’ll will want to stop on back on Monday (my time lol) I’m having a giveaway and a big event too. Not stamps but lotsa fun :)

Who doesn’t like to be called Fabulous?

I do!

The man in my life isn’t going to use the girly term fabulous, at least seriously, so I totally heart it when someone else calls me fabulous! Amanda from Elf House Chronicals and I met in Indie Biz (gotta love the Indie Biz peeps!) put me in her Fabulous Finds Friday post for my Bread and Toaster Hoop. So sweet!!!

Big mucho hugs to you Amanda!

CAS Style

April 7th, 2011 by Kristy

Clean and Simple.

That’s the challenge today at Some Odd Girl’s challenge blog. Minimalist design while still being lovely :) I’m not sure I pulled it off lol. I misted and used a doily as a mask on my background and used a white pen to outline it. I used Tiny Baby, a digi from our upcoming April 19th release, all about Mom’s, Girls and Babies :) Tiny Baby is colored with Copics:

Skin: YR0000, R00, R02
Hair: N3, N5
Eyes: E25, E27, E29
Diaper: E41, E43

All next week on the SOG Blog we will be having sneak peeks at the April release. There is some super cute things in there! One of my favs that has been waiting for a release to call home is finally in so you won’t want to miss that starting on Monday!

In other news I know some people have been keeping tabs right here for more info and dates on when the rubber will be out (Clear specifically but clear doesn’t sound as cool to say as rubber lol). Well, wait no longer! The details are falling into place and we are now able to set a date.

We didn’t want to just throw them up in the store, this is an event people! We will be having a Blog Hop on Friday April 22nd-24th where the Odd Girls and 2 FABULOUS guests will be sharing projects with their fav stamp from the release. I will be giving away an entire set from the release to one lucky hopper. Then April 25-30 we will he having a sneak a day of the new stamps and be giving a single away one a day too! That will all culminate on May 2nd when we will announce all our winners AND release the stamps to the world!

We have less than a month! I’m super excited! It all seems so much more real with a date posted :) I hope you’re just as excited as I am!!!

Spent Sunday Craftin…

April 4th, 2011 by Kristy

Besides a little photo session, I think I actually took a day off of work on Sunday AND IT FELT GOOD.  :-D I did some for me things, didn’t get out of my jammies and had a crafty day/movie day. Well the kids had the movie day mostly, Esme isn’t feeling well so she snuggled in my bed and watched movies on the new TV in the bedroom. She did come out and craft with me for an hour or so but she went on back to bed after a snack and some sticker play. Poor Chicka-Boom (my latest in a string of names for her lol).

For my layout I took inspiration from the Sketch at Sketchy Thursday but added on more pics. I kept the layered side but also flipped the whole thing.

I stitched the crap outta this LO too, kinda in flow chart fashion :) I couldn’t help but to want to scrap these pics, its been exciting (and tiring) around here and it seems such a beginning that the title “1 Step at a Time” just seemed not only so appropriate but a reminder. At least I’ll be able to give a release date after I get one bit of confirmation info today so fingers crossed and we can get the ball rolling! They’re burning a hole in my pocket it seems lol.

What did you do this weekend? I hope you had some chillax time!!!

Moved Around Space

March 28th, 2011 by Kristy

We don’t have to new living room furniture yet, anytime in the next couple of weeks, but we’re ready! I spent all day Saturday cropping with a friend (score!) while DH was hard at work at home. I had told him what I wanted but besides a mess of tools and boxes I found when I got home for dinner (I’m so naughty!!!) he had it all set for me! What a man!!!

The biggest change was my desk area. It moved from the other wall to this one and was shortened up just for me :) DH’s computer moved else where so this space is all my own. Or as much as I can keep everyone out of it lol. The laser printer, tower and scanner are all below on cubes. Luckily my computer tower is tiny, half the size of my laser printer. What I didn’t like is when DH refered to it as my “cubical.” He got a dirty look and amended it to my “corner office with a window,” smart man!

This area is the next biggest move. Its now more of a station, much easier to use too. And I gained that little corner spot that holds another lamp and my spinning holder of tools. I can’t wait to make a big mess here! We moved a couple anti-fatigue mats under that blue rug so its extra cushy. The dresser was repurposed after the wood between the two top draws wore out. It holds paper work, finished cards, my sewing box, dremel and other odds and ends. The 4 drawer white cabinet has my sewing pins and thread in the top drawer, all my photography stuff in drawer 2, storage and shipping supplies in the last two. The cabinet is packing/shipping/cutting station :)

This didn’t really change much at all. The little shelf just moved over to the right and we put a couple mats under the rug here too. The blue armoire holds all my scrapbooking/cardmaking supplies and the tall white cabinet has all my sewing and fabric inside. And up top is my biz books and folders, the drawers hold more paper work and things. Both my desk and this work table are covered with an Oil Cloth that I ordered from Etsy.

We definitely shrunk up the area but I think it has a much better flow now too!

Don’t forget to keep sharing your creative spaces with me for my Some Lil Q’s this week HERE! Or linked up on the right :)

Paper Issues Blog Hop!

March 19th, 2011 by Kristy

Paper Issues is having our very first blog hop! We’ve got a purty big DT so there are 3 teams for the hop and each has different projects and prizes along the way so I definitely suggest hopping along to each! The theme for our hop is “favorites”

I have a few “favs” going on in my card for the hop, one being that the papers and embellis on my card are new and different and that can be a great way to get your mojo going if you’re in a rut or the rut is too deep to reach your craft table from  ;-) Another fav for me on here is TAPE! Washi tape, fabric tape, mixed tape, whatevah you want to call it! I love that its in strips and sticky and slightly transparent. Something else I love that is totally a “fav” is getting to color a new image with Copics so soothing!

The stamp, that I simply couldn’t help sharing bc its quickly growning to be my fav, its one of my new stamps from Some Odd Girls first rubber release that will be coming oh so soon!  You can see some pics from when they showed up at my door yesterday on my facebook page. That is a big FAV in my life right now. I feel so lucky and kinda unworthy to be in the position biz-wise I find myself even though we are still small and growing. I’m putting my all into it and I am in disbelief at the feedback.

Thanks for stopping by and joining in the hop! Here’s the list of my Team for the hop so if you started here jump back to the Paper Issues blog and start there
