Spring into the Studio Blog Hop!

February 24th, 2013 by Kristy

Welcome to Paper Issues Spring into the Studio Blog Hop!

You should have arrived here from Jennie but if this is your first stop, be sure to head over to Paper Issues to start at the beginning!

10-years-layout

I got inspired to create a LO for the hop from Patricia Roebuck when I saw one of hers on my Instagram. I hadn’t made a LO in a good while and I had some pics printed from my Instagram feed and all this Darling Dear SC goodies that it was the perfect time to create this LO!

My hubs and I will have our 10 year wedding anny this year (though we’ve been together 12 already) and he’s my darling Dear. I call him Dear and have for all this time so the deer flair was just perfect!

All the paper pieces are from a ton of SC lines, the wood buttons are SC, the flair and the word bubble as well. The background paper is Crate, journaling card OA, stamps are from Some Odd Girl and the splatter is Glimmer Mist.

10-years

Kristy-Card-cu

Today I’m Guesting over at the Oozak Challenge Blog with the Anything Goes using your Favorite Colors Challenge. I tried my hand at the soft coloring that is so gorg when Anna Sigga does it, and it might have been my best attempt at it though it was SO HARD to not go further with it. Hop over to see the whole project and leave me some love :) It was a treat to get to guest.

I used the Clear Stamp Romantic Gwen from Some Odd Girl for my guest card and used Copics: BG23, BG34, BG57, W0, W1, W3, E40, E42, E43, E44, YR31, EOOO, E21, E11, R00, R43, BV20, RV93, RV95, YR30, R20, Y000, Y00 for her and the background.

There’s a great prize pack up for grabs from Mr Oozak and with this challenge you can easily get in on it! I’m going to put out the call bc I want to see a whole ton of Odd creations linked up! If you linked up to our February Sketch Challenge and used your favorite colors go link up at Oozak too!

Do it!  :DD

I hope you have a great weekend and I’ll see you on Monday!

I SMASHed!

January 22nd, 2013 by Kristy

or snapped? This wasn’t out of a SMASH book but done in a SN@P album but same concept for me. I usually am very intimidated by this kind of scrapping but this came together really quickly! The pics are all off my Instagram and printed via Kanvass. LOVE the size and the white border, need the border personally.

A quick aside on Kanvass. My first order came in very dark and yellow and I email them and very quickly  (I emailed on New Years Eve) got a response and a new batch was sent out, great customer service! (Thanks Sean!)

page1cu

All the papers, minus the SN@P page, came from my scraps and are AC and Sass; Washi is KI Memories, OA, and Freckled Fawn; AC Thickers and journal spot; OA sprinklers.

That’s my first time using the OA Sprinklers and I’m super in love! I got a few from Paper Issues and I’ve only really tried the yellow but OMG I heart it! Its more like paint in that you don’t see thru it like normal mist and I love that! Need more colors! (what have you started Cassie Box?!)

Tried anything new this year yet?

Grey with a POP of Color Challenge at the Some Odd Girl Forum

January 15th, 2013 by Kristy

Today its my turn to host the Birthday Celebration Challenge in the new Some Odd Girl Community. And crikies if with all the stuff going on did I almost not get it done WHEW. Luckily this card came together SO fast it was like I didn’t even make it.

I did though, just saying. :)

The challenge is to use Grey, which has always been a staple color for Some Odd Girl, and a POP of color. You can choose between the four colors now on the Some Odd Girl website (Blue, Green, Yellow OR Pink), I went with Grey with the POP of Yellow. Skin/Hair colors don’t count toward your color requirements, fyi. I colored the Love Me Not Mae Clear Stamp from Some Odd Girl in a black and white fashion to go along with the challenge, I used all the Ws.

Paper for this card is all SC except the bottom layer which is AC.

There’s a nice prize up for grabs too! We’ll have 4 challenges this week and some contests and games so hop on over to the Forum, check out the Master List to make it all easy to find. You can enter thru Sunday so don’t wait!

January Sketch Challenge

January 1st, 2013 by Kristy

hello

I’ve had that paper for quite a while but never knew what to do with it. YAY I finally found something! :D

Today is the January Sketch Challenge at Some Odd Girl and this is my card for the sketch :) I went kinda CAS with minimal elements and I stamped my sentiment, from the Everyday Smiles set from Some Odd Girl, on vellum for a soft look. All in all a simple and sweet card.

Papers are from AC and Pebbles with Doodlebug bling and stamp ink from Memento.

Hop over to the Some Odd Girl blog and join us for this month’s sketch and see what the girls were up to!

My Top 10 Cards of 2012

December 31st, 2012 by Kristy

Phew! I had a week of holidays and being sick (no worries, I get sick at this time every year like clock work) and it was nice to take a week off and spend some time with my family :) I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and are getting ready to kick off 2013 in style!

I did a Top 10 last year too and it was kind of a nice wrap up for me to be able to see back over the year in terms of my craftiness so I thought I’d do it again this year too. So in no particular order, here are my Top 10 Cards of 2012…

I seem to have this big love for Yellow this year lol. Did you do your Top 10? I’d love to see it if you did! Some of the Paper Issues Girls (Bente: Pt1 Pt2, Lowri, Anna, Corri, Carrie, Audrey, Patricia, Diana and Kate) all did theirs so if you are low on Mojo (like me) that’s the next place to check out!

Happy New Year!

Flirty Mae

I know Flirty Mae was up on the Some Odd Girl blog yesterday *but* I had other things so here it is from me today! :D

On my coloring for her I was going for a spotlight thing but I’m not sure if I made it. :3 It does look kind of vintagey which goes with the rest of the paper though. Maybe I’m nitpicking again. Always a possibility.

I’ll admit too that I’m not usually a purple fan but since I got that Neon Purple Hero Arts ink I’m slowly coming around. I like *that* purple. I layered to sentiments on this which I think is fun. Not a card to mail lol. The papers are from mostly the Basic Grey Soliel with an AC and Sass thrown in too. Then some Twinery twine and Doodlebug bling.

I’ve been kind of obsessed with square or circle cards with portraits lately, not sure how that happened.  :||  Have you been any design/coloring obsessions lately?

Love Me Not Mae

we-belong-together

Happy Monday! :DD  This week is going to be SO busy! I have the kids holiday sing on Thursday with my Mom coming up to see it and do our own holiday thing that day and all the stuff to get ready for that along with a normal week’s stuff. At least Chrimbo shopping is done and wrapped.

Even though I know we’re all super busy we can all take a moment and show some love to our cuties and fam which we’re doing this week at Some Odd Girl with a “heart”y new Clear Stamp Release.

Today we’re featuring the super sweet Love Me Not Mae.

I know I draw these but once they leave my computer into the big stamp world they always take on their own personality and this one seems full of feeling to me. It could just be me though lol

we-belong-together-cu

This card was created with papers from Basic Grey Soliel and SC (I believe is the light wood) then Washi Tape from Freckled Fawn and the banner stamp from Royal stamped with Hero Arts Neon Purple then Memento for the sentiment which is from the Love Me Not Mae set and colored with Copics. I did this almost a month ago and I didn’t write the colors down  :|| so yeah.

Hop over to Some Odd Girl to see all the new sets and the Some Odd Girl blog to see the awesome creations for today’s release feature!

Tried my hand at No Lines Coloring

December 13th, 2012 by Kristy

No Lines Gif

I made a Gif out of it lol I thought that was the easiest way to get all the pics into this post as there was 8 from start to finish.

All in all it took me about 3 hours to do it. I wish I had done it not sitting on my couch as the light is horrible and I think that slowed me down a bit. I was taking pics on Instagram as I went along and I found it fun to see the progress. 2 things got to me during this… 1) my E11 needs a new tip, its gunky. *shakes fist at E11* 2) This does make you slow down to think thru each section so it doesn’t end up being one big blog. So if you find you rush thru your coloring and want to slow yourself down give this a go!

I don’t rush my coloring usually but my brain doesn’t work very hard either so this was different  :3 Last night I said I’d do it again when I forgot how long this one took but it might only be until I get a new tip for E11. It grew on me that much overnight lol. Definitely will get you out of any coloring rut

ps. This stamp is Party Girl Gwen and she’ll be available in January. I can’t quit using her lol.
