Fingers Crossed and Personal Growth

Fingers Crossed and Personal Growth

That look, with fingers crossed, is how I feel most of the time.Β

“Living the Dream” of working for myself makes it sound like all rainbows and gumdrops but its actually a more dauntingΒ endeavor than it might seem. Every choice you make, and working for yourself you can make these decisions with sometimes reckless speed, affects your future directly.Β

I don’t regret this decision for an instant.Β

My family is still in the process of climbing out of our worst moment when we lost our home about 6 years ago. Its not something I talk about, I feel like its my biggest failure, but while its one of those times that remembering can still bring me to tears it is ultimately what allowed me to start down this road.Β Some Odd Girl is in the midst of Β growing pains and lots of decisions but I know if done right could take us back to stability.Β

Its July and I am getting ready for big plansΒ (fingers crossed) to come to fruition in the fall and making plans for CHA in January 2015. I’m going to be sharing a lot of these behind the scenes with you as we make this transition, I feel like its time to share the things that make me uncomfortable, the personal growth from it is undeniable.

I’m not looking to be a craft-lebrity or something like that, I am a person with a passion who is finally coming to terms with who she is and am trying to be proud of it… something I’ve never been able to do.

Now you’ll have to excuse me as this first step makes me want to run back to my drawing pad. Its always been there for me.

We all have those things in our past that have defined us, changed us and made us who we are today. Although they sucked at the time, I still think we need to go through things once in awhile so we can evolve, grow and adapt.

You are truly an inspiration and I admire you so much for following your dream.

Big hugs and I’m glad you came out from behind the drawing pad for a moment to share!!

I’m so hesitant to share personal things, too, so I know where you’re coming from! It’s especially hard to share the not-so-good news…and I admire you for not giving up and for being determined to turn the bad stuff around!

I remember not too long ago when you were drawing chibi portraits (I bought one), and when Some Odd Girl was just a digital stamp company…and look at you now!

I had a blast working in the booth with you at CHA, and am so happy to be one of your Odd Girls…if there’s anything more I can do to help you and Some Odd Girl in the next leg of the journey, let me know! *HUGS*

you, my bestie, are making me all teared up before caffeine. I’m amazing grateful for this adventure you kicked off and that I get to share it with you πŸ™‚

  • Charity Chamberlain says:

Reading all the comments melts my heart! I so wish I had the friendships, love, and support that each of you share together. Unfortunately I lack that in my life. Kristy, sounds like we have some things in common. While I don’t know you on a personal level, I can say that I admire you in so many ways when it comes to your artistic talents. Your amazing! I’ve always felt that you can tell a lot about a person through their art and something tells me that you are an amazing person way beyond the art. I also admire you for opening up. It takes a strong person to open up and share the parts of life that may not be the best or have not been the best. Good or bad, it’s what makes us grow in our journey, makes us stronger for the next journey, and guides us to live to the fullest for that journey. I wish you all the best in your personal life as well as the business side.

  • MelissaO says:

You are a true inspiration! Look what you have accomplished – a wonderfully popular business that allows you to work at home, support your family, be there for your children… all by doing something you are passionate about – DRAWING! I LOVE your art and I know many others out there feel exactly the same.

We have all made mistakes in life and without those we wouldn’t be the people we are today. Each mistake teaches us something and even though many past issues still inflict pain, we are learning to let go and growing stronger. You never have to apologize for your life. Let go of the past, look toward your future goals and be PROUD of who you are. You have accomplished so much so far, I cannot wait to see what plans you have hidden up your sleeve for you, and for SOG. YOU GO GIRL, life it too short not to follow your dreams…and I’ll be hanging around cheering you on.
