Die Binder Storage Review & Giveaway

die-storage-review-5

Happy Friday everyone!  Today I have something a little different to share with you.

If you stop by often, you know that I’m on some crazy never-ending crusade to organize my crafty supplies and my office. I love knowing where my stuff is but take 1 on my methods aren’t usually the best  so I always love new ideas. When Sam from SP & Company saw me asking on Facebook about die storage and offered to send me one of her new systems to try out I was all HECK YES I’d like to!

I’ve been using it for a handful of months now and I’ve probably tried 3 or 4 (or more, shhhhh) styles of dies storage before this one that haven’t floated my boat.

The SP Storage Binder is about the size of a CD case you used to have in your car in the 90s (sounding old here), but what makes it different is it has magnetic sheets you can clip and unclip in, sort of like a more forgiving 3 ring binder.

I don’t know about you but I hardly ever read instructions (unless its Ikea furniture, and then that’s deciphering not reading) so when it came in the mail I proceeded to slap all my Nesties and dies on the front and back of every magnetic sheet. The sheets are flexible so that method was not the greatest. I figured out though, after a long while of stubbornness, that the sheets have 2 sides…

The shiny side is the strongly magnetic side, while the backside, which is more matte, is not. So slapping dies on both sides wasn’t such a smooth move. Had I looked at it, or read the product description,  before having a heyday its pretty easy to notice… I’m chalking it up to organizational excitement.

Now I mentioned that the sheets are flexible which when I was doubling it up was frustrating because they would pop off… the lesson kids is reading and patience… but once I got the sheet figured out then place on only one side I then put the back sides back to back. This stiffens them up nicely but leaves them flexible enough to keep the good part of the sheets, how easy it is to get the dies OFF.

Ever had to use your nail to pick the small die out of the center of a stiff sheet and get a die cut under your nail? I have, it’s not fun.

You can also get plastic sleeves that clip into the same binder for clear stamps and other storage, but as I already have a system for those I haven’t given them a go. They feel nice and thick though so I think they would hold up very well. If you have stamps that have coordinating dies, this is a great way to keep them together.

Before I started using the binder, like I said, I had gone thru a few methods that were frustrating and at the time I was keeping all of them in a single basket in a drawer…

die-storage-review-1

that’s just sad.

All that’s left are the dies too large to fit in the case but since the case is that small, I keep the case in the basket now so they are still all together.

That said, of the methods I’ve tried for die storage, this one is the one I like the most. The small size makes it easy to keep with your die machine yet it holds a TON. The price on new binders and inserts is really great too.

But hang on to your basket of mismatched and loose dies because I’m giving a Binder and Magnetic Sheet set away to 1 lucky person! All I need you to do is tell me which color of binder is your fav and your biggest storage woe. On Monday I’ll announce the winner who will get that color binder and the sheets.

I take care of you  :eeep:

Love the look and idea of this system! The bright pink is amazing too – I would never lose that in my craft drawers! (I have a cat the will chew on ANYTHING so all card supplies, stamps, ink, etc. must live in a drawer)

    • Kristy says:

I hear that Tobi. If my cat wants her wet food and isn’t getting my attention sufficiently she chews my pens and markers.

  • Lidia says:

Love this idea!my favourite color is pink! I never know how to storage  dies and this is a perfect solution! (Sorry for my english!) greetings from Spain Kristy!

  • Lenny says:

Awesome die storage solution!! Still looking for a storage that works for me … 🙂
    Have a great weekend!

  • Maria Mendoza says:

So glad you shared this because I have one and couldn’t figure out to use it without my dies popping off

  • Marianne says:

I have only seen a similar system in a larger size. I agree that this smaller size would be more convenient to store with your die-cutting tool. Love the blue colour. My biggest storage woe is that I don’t have my own crafting space (yet) , which means that my craft supplies are stored in different locations, which really puts me off crafting, esp. if I need to go up and down the stairs every time because I forgot to get all the stuff I needed the first time…

  • Sandy McClay says:

I am just starting with dies, so fun!…one ore thing to make! lol  I like the blue also…

  • Jennifer Herb says:

Love this new storage system   Love the blue one. My biggest storage woe is stickers, I have them divided in drawers but it’s hard to know what I have when I can’t see them.

  • Kate says:

Love the pink!!!    Been looking for a compact storage solution for my dies!!!   Thanks for the chance.

  • sharon gullikson says:

I think that the blue might be my favorite. My worst woe is not being organized when it come to my dies. I just bought a die cutting machine a few months ago, and haven’t thought about how to store the dies. This would be great!

  • Natasha Poteraj says:

    I like the pink.
I need to come up with a method of storing all of my dies and embossing folders. I have several different types, but no way to keep them straight. This way of organizing my thin metal dies would be very helpful.

  • Bridget Weed says:

My favorite binder color would be the Stingray Gray. And my biggest storage woe – aside from die storage – is my punches, followed  very closely by my ink pads. I’ve seen storage units online for punches & ink pads but they’re pricey & I haven’t broken down & bought any yet. Maybe Santa will bring me a couple?

  • Michelle says:

This looks awesome, what a nice way to store your dies. Love the compact size of the binder rather than a standard binder size as well.  Having just looked at the site, I cannot believe what an awesome price these binders are.  My favourite colour would have to be the Plumeria Pink.  My storage issues would be a toss up between my dies and embossing folders which I have never had a happy storage for or my stamps. I think the issue with my stamps is I liked how I stored them originally but then I outgrew it and have never quite found a new happy place for them since.

Thanks for the chance to win one of these to try out as well. 😀

  • alethea says:

Oh how I would love one of these. I have a very small craft space out in the loungeroom so there is not much storage space at all and it is always so untidy!! Would love one of these binders for my dies. I only got a die cutting machine recently and I love it but hate having to pull everything out of my drawer to get to the dies!!! Love the clown fish colour!!! Thanks for a chance to win! HUgsxx

  • marybeth says:

    I prefer the bright pink.

Right now I am trying to figure out the best way to store my scrap paper.

  • Laura G.Turcotte says:

Great post! If I were to choose a color, it would be a toss up of the hot pink or the macaw blue…however, on second thought, i would choose the Blue, because if I choose the pink, my DD, who is a pink/purple fanatic, would most likely try to claim the binder for who own. My dies would all fit in this binder, as I don’t have many….working on that. Thanks!

  • Rebecca nufer says:

I am like you, always looking for clever storage ideas for my supplies….this is a good one.  I think I like the blue one. Thank you & please keep the ideas coming!

  • Sara S. says:

What a great storage idea! I love the avocado green one. Right now my storage woe is most of my craft area (not my desk)! I need to purchase some different organizers for paper and the “clutter”. My current system just doesn’t work for me anymore.

  • Tammy W. says:

What a great storage system! The plumeria pink is my favorite color (and my 5 year old’s too).  I would have to say my storage woe is the shoe box that I keep all of my dies in.  It’s an absolute nightmare trying to sort all of them out and find matches when I need one.  I sooooo need this!

  • Nicole Setter says:

This looks great and I can’t go past the blue. My small dies are actually stored in one of those CD cases but I can’t fit my Nesties in so this system would be superb for that. My other storage woe is how to store my markers that is within my budget.  : )

  • Judy S. says:

Nice storage solution post. My favorite color would be the pink. I’m wondering if I missed a posted link by you so we may go to it and buy the product just in case we don’t win. Thank you for your great post:)

    • Kristy says:

Its actually right up near the top of the post but just for quickness’ sake HERE IT IS Glad you enjoyed it!

  • Annie Rose says:

Awesome!  The Avocado Green binder was definitely made for me. 🙂  This looks like a great system! I’d love to keep all of my dies in one spot — super duper handy.  Thanks for the review!

  • Cathy P in AZ says:

Love this handy dandy die storage! I like the gray one cuz it’s kind of sheer. 🙂 Thanks for the chance to win one!

    • Cathy P in AZ says:

Make that a clear binder…it would help if I looked at ALL of the options. 🙂 Thanks!

  • Angie Ha says:

I love the macaw blue case my storage woe is that I never have enough storage!

  • Sharla says:

I’d have to say blue but the pink is super cute too.   I have too many woes to list.  Small space and most things poorly organized.  I need to take a couple weeks and deep clean & organize  EVERYTHING!!  Ack!

  • Amy O says:

I like the Macaw Blue and my biggest problem is paper scraps – I keep them all but I’m terrible at filing them away.

  • Sandra Lilly says:

My favorite color binder would be the Coconut Oil (Clear).  My biggest storage woe would have to be my dies…  I’ve tried several organizing products but haven’t found the right one yet which then in turn makes me not want to pull them out!!!  Ugh!  This looks like a great solution to try.  Thanks for sharing!!

  • Julia L. says:

I like the Plumeria Pink one the best. I was just trying to organize my dies with another system similar to this was am not very happy with it because the “pages” are too stiff and loose. I like the idea of this one where they are clipped together and more flexible. I also really like the idea that these are a nice shape that can be stacked!

My biggest woe right now for storage is trying to store all my embossing folders. I’ve sortof found a way to store them but it isn’t the best system. I haven’t yet encountered one that seems like a really good one. Maybe I should stop buying them! LOL

  • Christi Conley says:

Oh I LOVE the Macaw blue!! My biggest storage woe?? I’d have to say my dies – right now I have the sets in baggies, the movers & shakers stuck to the frame & a bunch of others thrown in a IRIS cart drawer – I could free up some much needed space if I had this 🙂 Thanks for the great review & the chance to win ~

  • Julie says:

    love red
stickers are a hassle for me
    thanks for the giveaway
