Hol-ODD-day Hop with Some Odd Girl

Welcome to my stop on the Some Odd Girl 3rd Annual Hol-ODD-day hop! 😀 This is something we do yearly to have fun with all of our Odd friends while celebrating the holiday season. This year we are having a big ol’ Linky Party so if you have a holiday project, new or old, make a post and invite your friends to the join by linking to the hop and then just LINK UP! Easy peasy lemon squeezy (as my kids are so fond of saying) We’re featuring hoppers Dec 3-6 and giving away prizes too so don’t miss out!

My project is a christmas ornament I made for our tree. Normally at my house we each buy an ornament every year but this year I made an executive decision to start making our own. The kids and hubs each made their own then I made mine.

Its actually really easy except the cotton inside. ERMAHGAWD I can’t stand touching cotton balls! Its like the tactile equivalent of nails down a chalkboard to me! :noes:  But I persevered with a pencil and tweezers so I never actually touched the cotton.

I picked this plastic ornament up at michaels, its a flatter shape than the traditional ball ornament and it worked really well! I colored this bear on one of the LIVE Color Alongs and put him on this little stand to give him a platform then slightly rolled him and slid him inside the ornament.

Then I shredded 3 cotton balls with tweezers and a pencil and used them to stuff it inside on both sides of the bear.

After I got enough in I took the pencil and one side at a time folded the back cotton and took a paint brush dipped in clear adhesive and put a thin layer on the plastic ornament then pushed the cotton back down to hold it in place.

I then took the brush and more glue and dabbed it on top of the cotton and sprinkled in some white embossing powder and glitter. I think the white embossing powder really has a snowy look when its over the cotton balls. Then just let it dry and hung it up!

I think it took me longer to figure out *how* to do it than to actually do it.

Pop on over to the Some Odd Girl blog and check out all the hoppers and link up your own stop! We’d love to have you!
